Baby Girl

Summary: Slight AU, hun as I needed to show a little more than I at first intended. For LadyJane666- in regards to her Love Games fic.

Phil groaned as he heard his phone ring. He had been talking to Maria when he had been dragged away from her upon the blasting of his theme song from his jacket pocket. He saw the number. It was Lex. He took a deep breath before answering the phone. "Hey Lex, what's up?" he asked, not knowing what else he could say.

They hadn't been going well; even when she had said she was pregnant he hadn't supposedly reacted in the way in which she had expected. They had been fighting over the slightest thing and well he had done the possibly the worst thing possible. He'd turned himself to another woman. With Maria though he didn't have the damn problems that he had with Lex which was all he wanted to get rid of. There was deep uneven breathing down the line. "Lex?"

"My waterbroke."

He stopped. The words that came from the other end made his face pale and his heart start to pound in his chest. "What can I do, Lex? I have a match in a minute, I can't-"

The line cut off suddenly and he shrugged, shoving his phone back into his pocket.

Lex moaned under the stress of the contractions and looked round. On the fridge was a number. It read; need the help, ring us and then a list of digits. She grabbed her phone again from off the table and dialled the first number.

"Hey, hey, hey. What's up Lex?"

"Matt- I think my water broke," she said bluntly and heard him stop. "I tried to ring Phil but he has a match and won't come and get me."

"Alright hold on, I'll be there as quick as I can."

She thanked him before he hung up.

By the time Matt got there, Lex was laying on the couch, trying to keep herself calm. He came through the front door and called out to her. "In here, Matt," she replied through gritted teeth.

He was right in front of her a second later. "You okay?" he asked, looking at her large stomach like he was about to have a panic attack.

She gave him a look. "You're kidding right? Of course I'm not alright- I'm pregnant and my water just broke!" He winced as she nearly all but screamed at him.

"Okay, okay. Well, let's get ya to the hospital," he said before reaching down and helping her up very slowly.

Punk had finished his match and the first thing he did was attempt to call Lexie. She didn't answer. She was home, and they were in town, so he at least knew the hospital she would be at. Showering quickly and getting changed, he grabbed his things, texting Maria and saying he would call or see her later.

Matt sat out in the waiting room, trying to keep himself amused as the doctors had told him if he wasn't the father, he had to stay out. Well- actually, he opted to keep his distance after Lexie's mood switched from somewhat mean to downright nasty not niceness. He sighed heavily and sunk further back into the chair.

Phil got there about ten past ten, and after rushing to the reception desk, as the weight of what was actually happening right now at this moment in time made his heart pound and his stomach twist sharply. He was going to be a dad in a matter of minutes. Heading down the hall, he stopped seeing Matt Hardy standing there talking to a doctor. "What the hell are you doing here?" he asked before he actually thought of the answer himself.

Matt turned and scoffed. "I got Lexie to the hospital. She would've had the baby on the bathroom floor if you had it your way," he retorted.

Phil sneered at the other man and said he was here now so he could piss off. The doctor just said that if they were quite done, both the mother and daughter were doing fine and were resting. Phil stopped. He had a little girl.

He asked if he could see them, either of them. "Of course, follow me," the doctor said. Matt made to follow, however Phil told him to keep away that he was entitled to some time with his "family" on his own.

The room was dead quiet as Phil was let in by the doctor. Walking round the shut curtain, he found Lexie sleeping in the bed, but it was the small cot beside the bed that drew his attention. He crouched down and looked at the tiny porcelain doll like face. Her eyes were closed and she yawned slightly as she moved and Phil just felt himself get lost in the way she was so tiny and precious. What had he done? He was cheating on Lexie- they had their problems and Phil was too afraid to give into her, telling her she was right. About everything.

He reached out very slowly and ran his finger down over the pudgy little pink cheek and felt his heart stop as the small hand caught his finger. His eyes lowered as the small fingers squeezed round his finger slightly.

From the day, he'd walked into that hospital room to see his little daughter; Punk had been taken over by something that he in all truth could not really explain himself but it was like he always had something there over his shoulder telling him that he had to make her proud, had to do everything to prove he was the best- and there in laid the beginning of his troubles.
