Cameron placed the letter she had just written on the pillow of the bed she
had been sharing with her long term boyfriend Chris Jericho. Tears slipped
silently down her cheeks as she grabbed her bag and exited the suite. Things had
gone from bad to worse recently…ever since he had started feuding with Shawn
Michaels.
Before that Chris had grown indifferent over the course of their five year
relationship, but there was always a glimmer of hope for Cameron. Once in a
while he would look at her the way he once did and lavish attention on her. They
had grown few and far between before disappearing completely. His every waking
moment was now consumed with ways of making Shawn suffer. She longed for those
days to return, but she knew they never would.
Since he started feuding with Shawn Michaels Chris barely spoke to her let alone
looked at her. They slept in separate beds and pretty much had separate lives
now. Cameron made the decision to leave before she slipped so deep into
depression that she couldn’t be saved. She kept repeating in her mind that this
was for her own sanity and the ache would slowly subside.
She was sure that Chris wouldn’t even realize she was gone. That was why she
left the letter. She wanted him to know he was the reason she left. Perhaps he’d
shed a tear if he knew the reason, but she somehow doubted it.
With a ragged sigh she tossed her bag into the backseat of the rental. She had a
long drive ahead of her. Cameron wanted to be a million miles away by the time
Chris came home from this most recent road trip. With one glance back toward the
hotel she threw the car into gear and pulled out, saying goodbye to her former
life.

When Chris arrived back to the suite he tossed his jacket over the back of the
nearest chair and headed for the bedroom, loosening his tie and unbuttoning his
shirt. He wanted nothing more than to slip on a comfortable pair of sweats and a
T-shirt and just relax. He saw the letter on the bed and picked it up, turning
it over in his hands. He could see his name on the envelope in Cameron’s curly
script. With a sigh he set it down and went to change. She could wait.
Once changed Chris went to the mini bar and made himself a rum and Coke,
grabbing the remote to settle in for the night. It was then that he remembered
the letter he had found on the bed. With an annoyed sigh he set his drink and
the remote down and headed back into the bedroom to see what the letter said.
When he opened it all that was written on the sheet were song lyrics. He read
them intently; sure they held some meaning to Cameron. As he read further he
realized exactly what she was trying to say.
Please, please forgive me
But I won't be home again
Maybe someday you'll look up
And, barely conscious, you'll say to no one:
"Isn't something missing?"
You won't cry for my absence, I know
You forgot me long ago
Am I that unimportant?
Am I so insignificant?
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me, not now
Though I'd die to know you love me
I'm all alone
Isn't someone missing me?
Please, please forgive me
But I won't be home again
I know what you do to yourself
I breathe deep and cry out
"Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?"
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me, not now
Though I'd die to know you love me
I'm all alone
Isn't someone missing me?
And if I bleed, I'll bleed
Knowing you don't care
And if I sleep just to dream of you
I'll wake without you there
Isn't something missing?
Isn't something...
Even though I'm the sacrifice
You won't try for me, not now
Though I'd die to know you love me
I'm all alone
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?
Chris crumpled the letter in his hand. She was gone and he knew that she was
right. He’d neglected her and it was too late to make things right. With a sad
sigh he tossed the letter into the trash.
“I hope you find happiness now, Cam,” he said to the empty room, a single tear
slipping down his cheek as he headed back to his drink.
