To Win Her Heart
by Greg & Shelly
Chapter 1
"And Victoria is your new women’s champ, folks," JR exclaimed. The brunette Diva
had just defeated Melina for the title on Raw that night.
As she was celebrating in the ring Team Rated RKO’s music hit. The tag champs
sauntered down the ramp, hatred in their eyes for the woman before them. Their
manager and Randy’s girlfriend Angela Roberts trailed a few steps behind.
Grabbing a couple of mics and climbing into the ring they approached her.
"I see you have a nice shiny new belt," Edge said smirking.
"Yeah I do," Victoria replied, not for a second wanting to show them an ounce of
fear. "Why are you here?"
"That’s a good question," Randy replied. "You see, Edge and I, we’re here to
congratulate you, Victoria." Edge nodded, smirking evilly at her.
"Thank you," Victoria replied, not quite sure if she could trust them.
"I’m not," Angela said grabbing Randy’s mic. "You better shine the belt up real
nice, bitch, because it’s mine come Backlash." She shoved the mic back into
Randy’s hand.
"Now, leave," Edge said, his smirk replaced by a scowl.
Victoria vehemently protested, refusing to leave the ring just because they
wanted her to. "Who the hell do you think you are," she screeched, shoving Edge.
"You’re not the boss of me!" She then shoved Randy.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Jason," Rey called rushing in to Jason Rampage’s locker room. The younger man
looked up from lacing up his boots. "Victoria’s in trouble. Randy, Edge and
Angela are harassing her. You better get out there."
"Shit," Jason said tying his boots and heading to the Gorilla position.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy and Edge exchanged looks as Victoria continued to berate them, poking them
both in the chest with a finger. They were just about to double team her when
Angela stepped between them. Both men quirked a brow at her.
"Let me handle this bitch," she said.
Victoria was now in a fighting stance as Angela turned back to her. She had
discarded her belt for the time being. The feisty brunette lunged at Angela, who
dodged the attack with ease. Victoria tumbled into the corner face first.
Angela pounced on her, pummeling her and pounding her head into the mat. Getting
to her feet she whipped Victoria into the corner and set her up for a top rope
huricanrana. Before she could execute the move Three Days Grace’s Let You Down
blared through the arena. The fans popped loud for the arrival of Jason Rampage
to save their new women’s champ.
"Cut my music," Rampage called coming out onto the stage, mic in hand. "You guys
have a knack for teaming up on people, don’t you?"
Angela released Victoria, dumping her over the ropes near the ramp. Rampage made
his way down the ramp to check on Victoria. When he was sure she would be all
right he turned his attention back to Edge and Randy.
"Why don’t you run along and play, little boy," Edge said, mocking his youth.
"Real funny," Rampage replied. "You know I am so sick and tired of you three
walking around here like you’re the top dogs." He smirked as the crowd began an
"asshole" chant. "You think just because you have those tag straps and a slut on
your arm makes you big men around here, don’t you?"
Angela threw a tantrum. "No one calls me a slut," she screeched.
"Sweetheart, from what I hear EVERYONE calls you a slut in the back," Rampage
replied, smiling when the fans roared with laughter. "Perhaps you should cut
back on the ‘favors’ for the boys."
"You son of a bitch," Angela screeched, trying to climb through the ropes. Randy
held her back, wrapping an arm around her waist. "Your ass is grass!"
"Did you come out here to insult my girl or did you have a point," Randy
demanded.
"Oh, I have a point," Rampage replied. "I’m here to challenge the two of you to
a match at Backlash for those belts."
Edge and Randy began to laugh. "You don’t have a partner, idiot," Edge replied.
"These are the TAG TEAM championship belts. You’re just one person. We’re really
quaking in our boots."
"Oh I’ll have a partner by Backlash," Rampage replied. "As a matter of fact I
have a partner all lined up."
"Well, who is it," Randy asked smirking. "Certainly not Victoria. Wait, is he
invisible?"
"You’ll know by Backlash who my partner is boys," Rampage replied dropping his
mic. He slung Victoria’s arm around his neck and helped her to the back as his
music blared once again.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Who the hell does that kid think he is," Edge demanded, kicking a chair as he
entered the locker room with Randy and Angela.
"Relax," Angela said. "No one can match your combined skill in the ring." Randy
smirked, pulling her into his arms and kissing her neck. She giggled and turned
around his arms, capturing his lips in a steamy kiss.
Edge watched this and grumbled. "Would you two get a fucking room," he demanded.
"Jesus, I don’t want to see that shit."
"Jealous Randy and I stopped inviting you over for threesomes," Angela teased,
over her shoulder. "Oh, wait, I know what it is." She pulled free from Randy,
sauntering over to Edge and shoving him down into a chair. "Does little Edge
need to be exercised?" She ran a finger down his chest to his belt.
Edge slapped her hand away. "You better keep an eye on this one Randy. Keep her
the fuck away from me," he said, shooting death glares at her as he left the
locker room, slamming the door behind him.
"What is his problem," Angela asked, taking the seat that Edge had just vacated.
"He’s been testy since Lita retired," Randy replied, pulling her back to her
feet. "Why don’t we go take a nice…long…shower," he said, each word punctuated
with a kiss.
"You read my mind Legend Killer," she smirked, as he dragged her toward the
showers, shedding their clothes on the way.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"You sure you’re all right," Rampage asked. He couldn’t believe he had actually
saved the woman he had been lusting after for the past few months.
"Yeah," Victoria said smiling. "Thanks for saving my ass." She chuckled. "You
know, you’re really cute. I never noticed that before."
"Well," Rampage said blushing slightly. She chuckled at his modesty. "Listen, if
you’re not busy later I was hoping maybe we could go have a drink or something."
"It’s a date," Victoria replied smiling. She stood on her toes and placed a kiss
on his cheek before heading off to the women’s locker room.
This action did not go unnoticed by Edge. Smirking he made his way back to his
locker room. Walking in he groaned, seeing the trail of discarded clothes
leading into the showers.
"Randy, we need to talk," Edge called, not caring if his partner was occupied.
"Now’s not a good time," Randy grunted.
"You’re welcome to join us," Angela giggled.
"Finish up and get your asses out here," Edge grumbled taking a seat.
Moments later both Randy and Angela appeared clad only in towels. "What was so
damn important that you had to interrupt us," Randy demanded.
"Seems like Jason Rampage has a date with a certain women’s champ tonight," Edge
replied smirking. "I’m guessing it’s taken him months to finally ask her out."
"Yeah," Angela said, bored already. "What does that have to do with us?"
"I’m thinking a certain stipulation needs to be added to our match at Backlash,"
Edge replied.
"Look, man, if you want a new girl I’m sure Angie can convince one of her
friends to…"
"It’s not about wanting Victoria," Edge replied, not wanting to hear the rest of
what Randy had to say. "It’s about making Rampage miserable. How would he feel
if his lady love is forced into servicing his opponents’ team?"
"You already have the services of a lady," Angela said crossing her arms across
her ample chest. "Why would you need Victoria?"
"Maybe we’re in the market for a new manager," Edge replied.
"No we’re not," Randy said stepping between Edge and Angela before the spat
could turn violent…on Angela’s part.
She glared at Edge as Randy held her back. "I’m going to get dressed," she
finally said retrieving her discarded clothes and disappearing into the
bathroom.
Randy turned his attention back to Edge. "Why do you have to do things like
that," he demanded. "I get why you want Victoria, but honestly, man, tormenting
Angie like that…"
"Just make sure you keep your focus," Edge replied. "You get distracted too
easily by that bimbo at ringside." With that he left the locker room to let
Randy dress.
Chapter 2
Later that night Team Rated RKO were set to take on Jason Rampage and a mystery
partner. Angela leaned against the doorframe watching Edge and Randy as they
finished getting ready. Edge adjusted his elbow pads and looked Angela up and
down, scoffing at her outfit.
"What," she asked looking down at herself. She wore a low cut pink tank top and
a black mini skirt with black knee boots and fishnet stockings. "You have a
problem with my outfit?"
"I just didn’t know hookers could pass for managers these days," Edge replied.
"Damn it, Edge," Randy yelled jumping to his feet. "Stop talking to Angie that
way!"
Angela sauntered over to Randy, placing a hand on his chest to stop him from
swinging at Edge. "Now, now, Randy," she said. "Edge has a right to his
opinion." Randy looked at her like she was insane. "I didn’t say he was right. I
just said he had a right to it."
"Whatever," Edge said heading toward the door. "I’ll meet you at the Gorilla
position." With that he left the locker room.
"I hate how he treats you," Randy said wrapping his arms around Angela.
"I’m not worried about him," she replied. "You and I both know who’s carrying
this team." He smirked. "Now let’s go show that punk Rampage who the tag champs
are."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy, Edge and Angela were waiting in the ring when Rampage’s music hit. He
stepped out on to the stage, smirking at the tag champs. It didn’t go unnoticed
that he had no partner with him.
Grabbing a mic Edge said, "Forget something, chump? Where’s your partner?"
Rampage simply smiled, stepping aside and pointing to the curtains. As he did so
Shelton Benjamin’s music blasted. The young South Carolinian stepped out onto
the stage to a huge pop. Rampage and Benjamin shook hands before heading down
the ramp.
Edge and Randy began laughing. "That’s your partner," Randy scoffed. "I thought
you’d give us more of a challenge."
~*~*~*~*~*~
It wasn’t long before both men realized that Shelton Benjamin and Jason
Rampage’s skills combined were no laughing matter. The tag champs barely got any
offense in as Rampage and Benjamin dominated the match with quick tags and a
combination of power and high flying moves.
Rampage had just spinebustered Edge when Benjamin whipped Randy into the ring
steps. Rampage went for the pin. Both men had forgotten about Angela. The
referee’s hand was just coming down for the three when she yanked him out of the
ring, screeching in his face.
Rampage slid out of the ring glaring at her. She began backing away from him as
he stalked her. She slid into the ring, still backing away from him. He was just
about to grab her when she ducked and Edge nailed him with the spear. She slid
out of the ring to aid Randy with Benjamin. The Rated R Superstar pinned Rampage
in the center of the ring for the win.
Benjamin had just been taking out by a low blow from Angela as he manhandled
Randy. He dropped to his knees gasping for air as Angela helped Randy up and
into the ring to celebrate their victory. She grabbed a mic, standing over
Rampage, venom in her eyes.
"Nice try, punk," she said. "You’re gonna need to find some better competition
for my boys." Edge picked Rampage up, holding him in a kneeling position as
Angela cocked her foot back to kick him in the most sensitive of areas.
Before she could do anything she was knocked to the mat as Victoria rushed into
the ring. Edge dropped Rampage and was about to help Angela when Rampage
connected with a punch to the gut. He collapsed to the mat in a crumpled heap.
Randy had just pulled Victoria off of Angela and was setting her up for the RKO
when Benjamin super kicked him from behind. The Legend Killer collapsed on top
of Angela. Benjamin took Victoria’s hand and led her over to Rampage, who was
just getting to his feet.
Rampage grabbed the mic. "Edge, Randy," he panted. "Shelton Benjamin was A
partner, but he is not THE partner." Shelton chuckled. "I’ll give you a little
clue. My Backlash partner is a real hellraiser." With that he tossed the mic
down and exited his ring with Victoria and Benjamin.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"This is pathetic," Edge growled as he all but dragged Randy into the locker
room. Angela limped behind them. "That jackass just made us look like chumps."
He tossed Randy down into a chair and started pacing. Angela frowned at Edge and
went to check on Randy. "We would have been fine if that bitch hadn’t stuck her
nose in where it didn’t belong," she grumbled.
Just then there was a knock on the open door. Turning their attention to the
doorway they saw Rampage and Benjamin standing there. "Just came to check on our
victims…I mean…friends and I do use friends very loosely." Benjamin just
snickered.
"Laugh all you want, buddy," Edge said. "Come Backlash I guarantee that you
won’t be the one laughing."
"What’s that? An idle threat," Rampage demanded.
"You see, I had a little stipulation added to the match," Edge replied. "You
win, you get the titles. But if Randy and I win…we get the services of the
lovely Victoria."
Rampage glared at Edge. "We’ll see who gets the last laugh, blondie," he said
stalking off with Benjamin close behind.
"Blondie," Edge scoffed. "Is that the best you got," he yelled down the hall.
"Are you sure about this Victoria thing," Randy asked finally getting to his
feet. "I mean she’s not exactly going to come over to our side willingly."
"Just leave Victoria to me," Angela said smirking. "Trust me, boys, I know how
to break a bitch."
"Not sure Victoria will enjoy the whips and chains," Edge replied with a
chuckle. "But if you say you can break her then I trust you." She smiled up at
him. "Get this one thing straight, Angela, you blow it and Team Rated RKO will
NOT be needing your managerial services anymore." Her smile fell and she glared
up at him.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Jason," Benjamin called as he followed Rampage down the hall. "Don’t let what
Edge said get to you, man."
"I’m not going to lie," Rampage said with a sigh. "I don’t like this added
stipulation. Why would they want Victoria?"
"Just to mess with your head," Benjamin replied. "Don’t let him get to you."
"Hey Jason," Victoria said smiling as she joined them.
"I’ll leave you guys alone," Benjamin said smiling. "Thanks for the opportunity
tonight." Rampage nodded as Benjamin left.
"What’s wrong," Victoria asked seeing that he was more tense than usual.
"Edge…added a stipulation to the match. If they win they get your services,"
Rampage replied.
"Well, that won’t happen," Victoria said smiling. Rampage just sighed and looked
away. "Hey, look at me." She grasped his head and made him face her. "I have
complete faith in you and your partner. You will not be losing."
"But what if I do," Rampage asked.
"You won’t," she replied pressing her lips to his.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Angela stood watching this exchange on the monitor. "That bitch," she growled,
kicking a chair. "When I get done with her they’ll need a body bag to haul her
ass out of here."
"I love it when you get that murderous glint in your eyes," Randy said wrapping
her up in his arms. She leaned back into his chest as he kissed her neck.
"I need to work off some tension," she whispered to him. "Let’s go back to the
hotel." Randy smirked, scooping her up and carrying her out of the locker room.
Chapter 3
Victoria walked along the halls to the catering area. She had a match against
Mickie James on Smackdown that night. She didn’t notice that she was being
followed until she stopped to grab a cup of coffee. She was grabbed and thrown
into the wall, coffee went flying everywhere. Victoria glared up at her attacker
from the floor.
"What do you want, bitch," she spat at Angela, who grabbed her by the hair and
lifted her up to eye level.
"Who’s Rampage’s tag partner for Backlash," she demaned shoving her into the
wall and pinning her there. She held her hand around Victoria’s throat.
"Like I’d actually tell you," Victoria laughed. Angela tightened her grip on the
champ’s throat.
"Tell me or we’ll be needing a new women’s champ," Angela said through gritted
teeth.
"Kiss my ass," Victoria replied, coughing.
Angela’s jade green eyes took on an almost crazy look as she pulled Victoria to
her so that her face was just centimeters from hers. "You think your beloved
Jason is going to save you? Think again."
"Do whatever you want," Victoria hissed. "Even if I did know I wouldn’t tell
you!" She shoved Angela away from her. Angela stumbled back, unable to believe
how tough it was to get an answer from Victoria. "Stay away from me!" With that
Victoria stormed off.
Angela stood there fuming a moment before she heard clapping from behind her.
Spinning on her heel she saw Edge standing there a smirk curling his lips. She
narrowed her eyes at him waiting for the verbal barb she knew was coming.
"You…uh…really broke that bitch," he chuckled. "Isn’t that what you said you
knew how to do?"
"Eat me," she replied, shoving past him.
He grabbed her arm, yanking her back to him so that they were nose to nose.
"You’re running out of time, Angela," he said deadly serious. "We lose these
titles at Backlash and you’re through."
Angela yanked free from his grip, glaring at him. "Don’t you worry about that,"
she replied. "You won’t lose."
"We better not," he replied.
"What’s going on here," Randy asked finally joining them. He could see that both
Edge and Angela were upset.
"Nothing," Angela said still glaring at Edge. "I'm out of here."
~*~*~*~*~*~
"What happened," Rampage asked seeing how disheveled Victoria looked.
"Angela," she replied. "She’s trying to find out who your mystery partner is."
Rampage growled under his breath. "Don’t worry, I didn’t tell her a thing."
"Good," he said smiling. "We still on for tonight?"
"You bet," she replied. "I better get back to hair and make up. My match is up
next."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Victoria had just beaten Mickie with the Widow’s Peak. Before climbing out of
the ring she grabbed a mic. "Angela, you want a shot at this title at Backlash
you’ll have to earn it," she said. "On Raw next week. You and me. One on on.
Don’t bring your goons."
~*~*~*~*~*~
"What did you say to her," Randy demanded of Edge. "She’s really pissed."
"Like I give a flying fuck," Edge replied.
"You should," Randy replied. "She’s a part of this team too."
Edge scoffed. "She’s only a ‘part’ of this team because you’re fucking her,
Randy."
Before Randy could respond Angela entered the locker room, slamming the door
behind her. She picked up a chair and threw it across the room. She was about to
do it with another chair, but Randy stopped her.
"Ang," he yelled, pinning her arms behind her back. "Stop it! What’s wrong with
you?"
"That bitch, Victoria," she growled. "She challenged me to a match on Raw."
"Shouldn’t be any problem for you," Edge smirked. "You know how to break a
bitch." He chuckled.
"You’re so lucky Randy is holding me right now," she said narrowing her eyes at
him. "I’d have you in a bloody heap right now if he didn’t."
"Scary," Edge replied crossing his arms across his chest.
"Stop it," Randy said to Edge. "Ang, calm down." She eventually stopped fighting
him, relaxing in his arms. He released her, making sure she didn’t lunge at
Edge. "Now, we have something more important to think of. Rampage gave us a clue
about his partner for Backlash. Maybe we should put our energy in to figuring
out who that person is."
"It could be anyone on the roster," Angela said sighing as she took a seat.
"It doesn’t have to be someone on the active roster," Edge pointed out. "He
could be bringing in someone we haven’t seen in a while."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Rampage stood outside the door as Edge, Randy and Angela contemplated who his
partner would be. A smile curled his lips as they tossed names around. They had
no clue who he was going to tag up with and he liked that just fine. He walked
away shaking his head and chuckling to himself.
"Ready to go," Victoria asked spotting him coming her way. She had changed into
a white halter dress with white wedge shoes. Her hair was pulled up into a mass
of curls.
"Sure am," he replied offering her his arm. She hooked hers through it and
together they headed out of the arena.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"I had a really good time," Victoria said later that night as Rampage walked her
to her room.
"Me too," he replied. "So, I’ll see you on Raw?"
"Yeah," she replied leaning over and placing a soft kiss on his lips.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Ang, would you please stop pacing and come to bed," Randy pleaded sleepily.
"The nerve of Edge," Angela fumed. Their little meeting of the minds had ended
in Edge calling her every derogatory name in the book before storming out of the
locker room. "Why do you let him talk to me that way?"
"He does what he wants to do," Randy sighed. "Forget about him. Come to bed."
"Don’t you even care that he speaks to me that way," she demanded.
"I defended you, didn’t I," he replied, yawning. "Ang, I’m tired and I want to
get some sleep. Please come to bed, baby."
She crawled into bed next to him with a sigh, though her blood was still
boiling. "You could just try harder to shut him up next time," she said as he
wrapped her up in his arms and pulled her close to him.
"There won’t be a next time," he promised. "I’ll shut him up before he can even
open his mouth." She smiled at his words, allowing herself to relax as she
closed her eyes.
Chapter 4
The women’s match kicked off Raw the next week. Angela stood in the ring pacing
as she awaited Victoria’s entrance. She was furious that her match was booked so
early in the show and she intended to make Victoria feel her wrath. She was
loosening up when Victoria’s music finally hit and the crowd popped loud for
her.
The women’s champ made her way down to the ring intent on showing Angela just
who the real champ was. She had taken crap from her for a week now and it was
going to stop. She was going to make sure of it.
Once the bell rang and the ref allowed the women to collide it was a no holds
barred brawl. The women battled inside and outside the ring, using just about
anything and everything they could get their hands on. The ref was powerless to
stop the assault, knowing that if the match ended in a disqualification the fans
would boo him out of the building.
Angela finally grabbed the women’s title and clocked Victoria with it. The ref
was up to a six count as the champ went down. Angela slid into the ring as the
ref counted to ten. She had beaten Victoria.
Angela hopped out of the ring grabbing a mic. She grabbed a handful of
Victoria’s hair, lifting the champ’s head so that they were eye to eye. "I’ll
see you at Backlash," she said, before dropping the mic and Victoria’s head.
"You didn’t pin me," Victoria growled into the mic as Angela walked away. Unable
to believe what she was hearing Angela turned around to face her foe. "You pin
my shoulders to the mat or you get no title shot," Victoria said getting to her
feet. "Next week on Raw." With that she dropped the mic, glaring at Angela.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Shit," Randy muttered as he watched the aftermath of the match on the monitor.
"She’s going to be pissed."
"What else is new," Edge muttered pulling on his kick pads over his boots.
As if on cue Angela entered the locker room fuming, kicking the lockers and
chairs. "THAT BITCH," she exclaimed. "I beat her. Now she’s putting conditions
on my title shot! BITCH!"
"Angie," Randy sighed. "Calm down. You beat her once you can beat her again."
Edge just snickered. Randy shot him a look, but he ignored it and continued
snickering.
"What the fuck is so funny," she demanded walking over to where he sat.
"Oh, I don’t know," Edge replied standing. "It’s just that you get Victoria
counted out and consider that a big victory."
"I had her beat," Angela replied. "I saw an opportunity and seized it."
"Yeah," Edge replied snickering. "Heaven forbid you actually pin her."
Angela slapped him hard across the face for the comment. This action stunned him
for a moment before he grabbed her by the shoulders and pinned her up against
the wall. His blue gray eyes burned holes into her as he brought his face to
hers until they were nose to nose.
"Edge," Randy said trying to pry his partner off his girlfriend.
"You EVER lay a hand on me again it will be the last thing you do," he growled
at her.
"Get off her," Randy yelled, finally managing to pry Edge away from Angela. She
collapsed into his arms, burying her face in his bare chest. "What the fuck is
wrong with you?"
"ME? What the fuck is wrong with you," Edge demanded. "You saw what she did. You
better control her and keep her away from me. I swear to God, Randy, I will
personally see to it that you find yourself suddenly single next time she lays a
finger on me." With that he stormed out of the locker room in search of some ice
for his sore jaw.
"Are you all right, Ang," Randy asked, stroking her back. "Baby?" She pulled
away from him, sniffling and nodded up at him. "Go wash your face. We have a
match coming up soon."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Once again Rated RKO was in the ring awaiting Rampage and his mystery partner.
Rampage came out onto the stage, Victoria on his arm. The crowd was buzzing
about who the possible partner could be. They didn’t have to wait long as Rey
Mysterio’s music hit and he popped up out of the stage.
Randy and Edge looked at each other before they burst out laughing. "That’s your
partner," Edge asked.
"Shouldn’t there be a height requirement to compete in this match," Randy added.
That was all it took for Rey to hit the ring, Rampage close behind. The
cruiserweight took on both men delivering devastating high flying move after
move. It became apparent to both men that they had severely underestimated the
smaller man.
Rampage had just knocked Edge off the apron into the barrier. Angela was busy
checking on him to see if he was all right. By the time she realized what was
happening it was too late to do anything to stop it. Randy had gone for an RKO,
but Rampage shot him into the ropes. On his way back Rampage managed to drop toe
hold him into the ropes, quickly tagging in Rey.
The smaller man happily performed a 619 right to Randy’s head and followed it up
with the West Coast Pop to get the pin. Edge was furious, shoving Angela away
from him as he got back in the ring to check on Randy.
"You think your munchkin will be able to do that again at Backlash," Edge
demanded. Angela was in the ring now cradling Randy’s head in her lap.
"Whoa," Rampage said chuckling as he and Rey celebrated their victory. "You
think Rey’s the hellraiser?" Both men laughed. "I mean, no offense to Rey, he’s
a hell of a partner, but he’s just not THE partner."
"Who is then," Edge demanded.
"Clue number two," Rampage said holding up two fingers. "His career is red hot."
With that he exited the ring, wrapping an arm around Victoria as he headed up
the ramp.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"What the hell are we playing a fucking game show," Edge fumed. "He’s dropping
all these fucking hints. What is this shit?"
"He’s playing mind games," Angela replied knowing her input wasn’t wanted. Edge
glared at her. "He’s keeping you guys guessing so that you won’t be prepared for
whoever he has lined up."
"Whatever," Edge said flopping down onto the bench.
"I need ice," Randy groaned heading out of the locker room to find some ice for
his sore jaw.
Angela watched Randy leave, not really wanting to be alone with Edge. With a
sigh she took a seat on the bench across from him watching as he slipped off his
elbow pads. He sensed her watching him and turned his attention to her, glaring
at her.
"Something I can do for you," he demanded.
"I just wanted to apologize for slapping you," she said finally.
Edge was taken aback by the apology. As long as he had known her she had never
once said she was sorry for anything she had done or said. "Apology accepted,"
he replied. "I meant what I said. If you ever lay a hand on me like that again I
will end you."
"Understood," she replied standing. Randy had finally returned with an ice pack
on his chin. Angela brushed past him heading out of the locker room to go change
in the women’s locker room. Randy watched her leave a moment before turning his
attention to his partner.
"What did you say to her now," he demanded.
"Actually she apologized for slapping me," Edge replied. Randy couldn’t believe
it. "Yeah, it surprised me too."
~*~*~*~*~*~
"I’ll see you lovebirds around," Rey said smirking as he watched Victoria
clinging to Rampage’s side. "Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do." Rampage chuckled
and waved goodbye to Rey.
"Sounds tempting," Victoria said smirking. "How about you and I head back to the
hotel?"
"I thought you’d never ask," Rampage replied, placing a kiss on her temple as
they headed out to the parking lot.
Chapter 5
"So, I’ll see you in the morning," Rampage said as he walked Victoria to her
hotel room. He was about to walk away, but she grabbed his wrist, pulling his
face down to hers for a steamy kiss.
"You don’t have to go," she whispered in his ear when the kiss was broken. He
smirked looking down at her as she ran her hand over his well muscled chest,
slipping it under his shirt to get a better feel for him. With a smile she
grabbed him by the shirt collar and pulled him into the room with her.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Ang," Randy said softly as he lazily made circles with his fingertip along her
bare arm. They lay entwined in each other’s arms in bed, the sheets tangled
around them. She looked up at him, quirking a brow. "You apologized to Edge.
What’s that about?"
She sighed and shrugged. "I shouldn’t have slapped him the way I did," she
replied. "It was uncalled for."
"Yeah, but…"
She cut him off by placing a finger over his lips. "Just let it go, Randy," she
whispered, replacing her finger with her lips. "I can think of other things you
could be using that energy for," she said when the kiss had broken. Randy
smirked, pulling her on top of him.
~*~*~*~*~*~
The next morning Rampage awoke to the sun pouring in through the windows.
Rolling onto his back he wondered if the night before had been a dream. He
looked next to him and saw Victoria sleeping, the sheet draped over her, just
barely covering her. With a smile he propped himself up on an elbow and ran a
finger down her bare back.
The sensation sent a shiver down her spine and she groaned, rolling over to look
at him. "Morning," she said smiling.
"Morning," he replied, brushing some hair out of her face. "Has anyone ever told
you how beautiful you look in the sunlight?"
She giggled, feeling a blush creeping up into her cheeks. "You’re quite the
charmer, Jason Rampage," she said leaning over and placing a kiss on his lips.
His arms slipped around her body, pulling her to him, deepening the kiss.
"I think I’m falling for you, Jason," she said breathlessly as the kiss broke.
"I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not."
"Vic, this is the start of something VERY good," he replied, smiling as he ran a
hand through his messy shoulder length back hair. He fixed her with his sky blue
eyes and smiled. "I guarantee that." She felt her heart skip a beat at his
words.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"You wanna head down for breakfast," Randy asked slipping his arms around
Angela’s waist as she stood at the mirror pulling her honey blonde curls up into
a ponytail.
She leaned into him, smiling. "Yeah," she replied putting the finishing touches
on her make up. "Let’s go. I’m starved."
As they exited their room they saw Victoria exiting her room, Rampage close
behind. They quirked a brow at each other when they realized that he was wearing
the same outfit he had worn the night before. Rampage wrapped his arms around
Victoria’s waist as they walked to the elevator.
"Ah, young love," Angela said as she and Randy caught up with the couple. "Isn’t
it enough to make you sick, Randy?"
"So, you finally popped your cherry, huh, Rampage," Randy asked smirking.
"Fuck off," Rampage replied.
"My, such language," Angela said. "We were simply expressing an interest in
another couple."
Victoria scoffed. "Jason and I have something with more substance that you
jokers," she said. "Do you two even have ANYTHING in common? Aside from mindless
fucking, I mean?"
"You say mindless fucking like it’s a bad thing," Angela replied with a smirk.
"Didn’t I tell you she was a whore," Rampage said in Victoria’s ear, making it a
point to speak loud enough so that Angela and Randy could hear.
"You son of a bitch," Randy growled, pulling Angela to his side. "You apologize
right now."
"Or what," Rampage asked as the elevator doors dinged open. He and Victoria
stepped inside. "You’ll sick your ass clown Edge on me? I’m so fucking scared."
The doors slowly shut as Randy stood sputtering.
"He’s going to pay," Randy said, glaring at the elevator. "Just wait until the
damn Smackdown tapings tonight. He’s going to fucking pay."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Later that night when Rampage and Victoria arrived at the arena for Smackdown
Rey met them. "Jason," he said. "Randy went to Teddy demanding a singles match
against you."
"So," Rampage replied. "I’m not worried about Randy, Rey. I can take that goon."
"He wants Edge and Angela at ringside," Rey replied. "And me and Victoria banned
from being there. He wants you out there alone."
"Playa," Theodore Long called meeting Jason in the hall. "I’m sure Rey’s told
you about Randy’s demands." Rampage nodded. "He wanted me to ban Victoria and
Rey from ringside, but I just couldn’t do it. Not in the interest of fairness."
"Thanks, Teddy," Rampage said shaking the GM’s hand. "I appreciate you looking
out for me like that."
"You better go get ready," Long said. "Your match is coming up soon."
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Let me get this straight," Edge said pacing the locker room. "Rampage insulted
Angela so you challenged him to a match tonight?" Randy nodded as he slipped on
his kneepads. "And how did I get roped into being at ringside?"
"You’re my partner," Randy replied. "You’re there for support."
"How about I support you from back here," Edge replied.
"Why do you have to make things so damn complicated," Angela sighed shaking her
head. "Randy would do this for you."
"I’m not Randy now am I," Edge replied.
"Please," Angela begged, hating herself for it. "We can’t do this without you."
"Fine," Edge sighed pinching the bridge of his nose. "I’ll come ‘support’ you."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Edge and Angela tried every trick in the book to distract the ref long enough
for the other to interfere, but Victoria and Rey were quick to squash their
attempts. Randy was becoming increasingly frustrated at their failed attempts
and began to make mistakes. Rampage was quick to take advantage of these
openings, knocking Randy silly a couple of times.
Rampage had just DDTed Randy and covered him for the pin when Angela grabbed his
foot and put it on the ropes to break up the count. Victoria and Rey arguing
about the call distracted the ref and Angela who had gotten on the apron
distracted Rampage. No one saw Edge slide into the ring, setting up in the
corner. When Rampage pie faced Angela off the apron and turned around he was met
with a spear.
Edge got Randy to his feet and the Legend Killer got that look in his eyes as he
waited for Rampage to hesitantly get to his feet. Once Rampage was standing he
was met with an RKO. Randy pinned him calling for the ref, who made the count.
Rey and Victoria were quick to slide into the ring to protect Rampage from any
further beating. Randy quickly slid out of the ring, joining Angela and Edge.
The three celebrated their way up the ramp as their three enemies glared at
their retreating forms.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Still think you need a new manager," Angela asked Edge when they got back to
the locker room.
"Not sure yet," he replied. "Let’s see if you can come through in the clutch and
then we’ll talk."
"Why can’t you just give her a compliment once in a while," Randy demanded. "She
did her job tonight and she’ll do her job at Backlash too."
"Whatever," Edge replied.
"What is it exactly that you don’t like about Ang," Randy asked. "You’ve been
treating her like shit for months now. What’d she ever do to you?"
"Nothing," Edge replied. "I just think you can do better. That’s all. She’s
going to cause you nothing but pain, Randy. Mark my words on that one."
Angela glared at Edge as the men spoke. She made a mental note to have a little
chat with Edge while Randy showered. For now she'd have to be content to send
daggers his way with her eyes.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"I’m gonna kill those sons of bitches," Rampage growled as he sat at the medic
station getting his ribs taped up. "If it’s the last thing I do I am going to
kill those bastards." He grabbed the arm of the medic taping him up. "Am I
done?" The frightened man nodded.
"Jason, maybe you should let him finish," Victoria said, her brown eyes full of
concern.
Rampage slid off the table and pulled her to him. "I’m fine," he said softly.
"Don’t you worry about me, baby."
"Rest up those ribs," Rey said walking with them back to Rampage’s locker room.
"You got another big match on Raw." Rampage nodded waving to Rey as he left
them.
"Let’s get you back to the hotel so that I can nurse you back to health,"
Victoria said smiling as she placed a kiss on his cheek.
"I feel better already," Rampage said chuckling.
~*~*~*~*~*~
When she was sure Randy was in the shower Angela decided to take the opportunity
to speak to Edge. "I thought we had an agreement," she said glaring at him.
"We did," Edge replied not looking up from his magazine. "Did you hear me say a
word to Randy at all?"
"You almost did," she replied snatching the magazine away from him. "Let it stay
buried. I mean it."
"Don’t give me a reason to tell Randy," Edge replied, snatching the magazine
back. "You’ve been a good little whore lately, but it’s only a matter of time
before you slip back into old habits."
Angela could only glare at him in disgust. "I need some fresh air," she finally
said heading toward the door. "Tell Randy I’ll meet him at the car." Edge
flipped her off before she left the locker room.
Chapter 6
Rampage headed out to the ring the next week on Raw. His ribs were still taped
from taking the spear from Edge. Grabbing the mic he addressed the tag champs.
"Edge and Randy Orton think they’re something special," he began. "They think
they’ve won something by pulling a fast one on the ref last week on Smackdown."
A clip of the spear was shown on Titantron followed by Randy pinning him. He
looked right into the camera. "Boys, you haven’t won squat."
Rated RKO’s music hit and the tag champs came out onto the stage. Angela was
conspicuously missing. "How are your ribs, Rampage," Edge asked with a smirk.
"My ribs are just fine," Rampage replied. Edge and Randy snickered. "Why don’t
you and your boyfriend come test them out?"
"What happened, Rampage? Couldn’t get a partner for tonight so you decided to be
a big man and take us on by yourself," Randy asked. Edge chuckled.
"That’s fine with me," Edge said still chuckling.
Randy nodded and together the champs headed to the ring. When they got to end of
the ramp Jeff Hardy’s music hit. The tag champs wheeled around and stared up at
the stage where Jeff Hardy stood glaring at the two. He flashed the Hardy gun
symbol before charging down the ramp, taking out Randy in the process.
Rampage slid out of the ring attacking Edge, sending him spilling into the ring
steps. He continued the beating on the outside as Jeff tossed Randy into the
ring. The match progressed with Jeff and Rampage dominating the tag champs.
About halfway through the match Angela appeared on the stage holding Victoria by
her hair. "Hey Rampage," she called distracting him away from the match. Rampage
saw who Angela had and got down off the apron. "Come any closer and I smash her
face in on this cold, unrelenting metal." She pulled Victoria in as if she were
going to DDT her.
Inside the ring Jeff had just given the Twist of Fate to Edge and was climbing
the ropes for the Swanton. As soon as he got to the top turnbuckle Randy shook
the ropes causing the younger Hardy to lose his balance. Jeff landed hard on the
turnbuckle and fell into the ring.
"Looks like your rainbow haired freak friend could use a hand," Angela said
smirking. Rampage turned his attention back to the ring and then looked at where
Victoria was still being held against her will. He was clearly torn about who to
help. "Let me make the decision easier on you," Angela said dropping the mic and
delivering a devastating DDT to Victoria before walking back through the
curtain.
Rampage was halfway up the ramp when Randy hit Jeff with the RKO and pinned him.
Turning back to the ring Rampage groaned, knowing he had blown this match due to
Angela’s interference. The damage was already done and he continued up the ramp
to Victoria. She was out of it, but still conscious.
Rampage picked up the mic Angela had dropped. "Cut the music," he yelled. "Clue
number three, boys. My partner is a real machine. Chew on that for a while."
With that he dropped the mic and scooped Victoria up.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"That DDT was amazing, baby," Randy said as he and Edge followed Angela to their
locker room. "Wasn’t it, Edge?"
"Yeah," Edge replied. "You did good, Ang."
"My goodness! Is it going to snow? Edge actually paid me a compliment," Angela
chuckled.
"Don’t push your luck," Edge replied. "Shouldn’t you bet getting ready for your
match?"
"As if there’s going to be one," Angela cackled.
"Oh there’ll be a match," they heard from the doorway. Wheeling around Angela
saw Victoria standing there glaring at her. There was a nasty bruise spreading
from her forehead across her right eye. "You better be ready." With that she
walked away.
Angela grumbled something under her breath before stalking out of the locker
room herself. She made it to the Gorilla position and began to stretch. Victoria
was doing the same, though she kept a wary eye on her adversary.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Jeff," Rampage said finding the younger Hardy talking to his brother in the
locker room. "Listen, man, I’m real sorry about leaving you high and dry like
that."
"It’s all good," Jeff replied. "How’s Victoria?"
"Heading out for her match," Rampage replied with tight smile.
"She’ll be all right, Jason," Jeff said. "She’s a tough chick." Rampage nodded,
taking a seat with the brothers to watch his girlfriend in action.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Listen, Ang and I are going out after the show," Randy said to Edge as he
dressed. "Why don’t you come with us?"
"I don’t think so, Randy," Edge replied tossing his gear into his bag. "Not
really into seeing you guys suck face all night."
"We used to hang out all the time," Randy said frowning. "Now we barely even
talk unless I’m playing referee between the two of you. I just want things to go
back to the way they used to be."
Edge sighed taking a seat. "All right, Randy," he replied. "I’ll come out with
you guys. No trying to set me up with anyone. Definitely no grossing me out by
eating each other’s face."
Randy smiled. "You got a deal," he said happily. "Angie will be so excited when
she finds out."
"I wouldn’t count on it," Edge murmured under his breath.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Angela hit the ring steps at maximum velocity, pain shooting through her entire
left side. Victoria was pissed and she was making it well known. Picking Angela
up by the hair she rolled her into the ring intent on doing more damage.
Angela found herself unable to mount any kind of offense as Victoria cut off
attempt after attempt at any kind of attack. The champion was clearly angry and
out for blood. With every strike from her opponent Angela saw her title shot
slipping away.
Victoria, finally growing tired of punishing Angela, hit the Widow’s Peak and
covered her. In her blind anger she hadn’t noticed how close to the ropes she
was and Angela was able to grab the rope and pull herself free. She stepped out
onto the apron for breather to regain her bearings.
As she stood there Victoria attempted to charge her, but Angela quickly pulled
the top rope down and the champ went spilling to the floor. Finally catching a
break Angela hopped down and rolled Victoria into the ring. Feeling that this
would be her only chance she pulled her up and powerbombed her in the center of
the ring, covering her. She got the pin and sat back on her haunches, exhausted
from the match. Before Victoria could recover Angela slid out of the ring and
headed to the back.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"So, where are we heading tonight," Angela asked later that evening. She was
still sore from her match, but by no means was she ready to call it a night.
"Some place that Cena told me about," Randy replied. "Edge is going with us."
"You’re serious," Angela asked turning her gaze to Edge. He shrugged and nodded.
"Lord have mercy, the grump is actually going someplace other than the hotel and
arena. Sound the alarm!"
"Shut it," Edge grumbled. "I’m only coming so Randy will stop whining at me."
The three headed out to a little club a few blocks from the arena. It wasn’t too
crowded and they found a table quickly, placing their drink orders. "This place
is nice, huh," Randy asked looking around.
"Could be a little more lively for my taste," Angela replied.
"Well, it is a Monday night," Edge commented. "Not many people party on a
Monday."
"Just us losers," Angela replied with a sigh.
"Why don’t you guys go dance," Randy suggested. "I have to hit the head." Angela
and Edge exchanged glances. "Go on. Have some fun." With that he headed toward
the bathrooms.
"This is ridiculous," Edge groaned taking a long swig of his beer. "He can’t
possibly be that oblivious."
Angela took a sip of her Malibu and Coke and sighed. "He doesn’t know about what
happened between us," she finally said. "He doesn’t even suspect."
"But he can’t be that dumb," Edge scoffed. "After all the times we almost got
caught by him…he never put two and two together?" She shook her head no, downing
the rest of her drink and waving the waitress over to order another.
"He doesn’t even know why you hate me so much," she said.
"You guys are gonna be such downers," Randy said coming back to the table. He
pulled Angela to her feet. "Guess you and I will have to get things going, huh?"
He whisked her to the dance floor, leaving Edge to brood at the table.
~*~*~*~*~*~
When the three arrived back at the hotel Randy was pretty wasted. Edge helped
Angela get him into bed. "I appreciate your help with Randy," she said softly as
she walked him to the door.
"Don’t mention it," Edge replied. "I couldn’t see you dragging his oafish ass to
the room." She nodded watching as he left the room.
She turned her attention to the bed where Randy was practically passed out.
"Let’s get you ready for bed, Legend Killer," she said taking off his shoes and
socks before sitting down next to him to remove his pants.
"Ang," he slurred. "Did you have a good time tonight?"
"Yeah, it was good to hang out with Edge again," she lied.
"I know things were hard for a while," Randy mumbled. "But I think Edge is
starting to warm up to you again." He helped her remove his pants as best he
could in his state before rolling onto his side and falling asleep.
With a sigh Angela sat with her back against the headboard, pulling her knees up
to her chest. Tears slipped down her cheeks. "I doubt Edge will ever warm up to
me again, Randy," she said softly. "I did something he will never forgive."
Chapter 7
Randy groaned, rolling over onto his back the next morning. His head throbbed as
he reached out and felt the bed next to him, finding it empty. Cautiously
opening his eyes he saw Angela standing by the window.
"Angie," he said, cringing as his own voice brought more throbbing. "Baby, what
are you doing?"
She turned to face him, looking like she hadn’t gotten much sleep. "Just
watching the rain," she replied with a sigh. "You know how I love the rain." She
smiled weakly at him.
"You look like you didn’t sleep well," he said rubbing his temples.
"I didn’t really," she replied. "Hangover, huh?" He nodded, grimacing as the
throbbing worsened. "Want me to run to the store to get you some aspirin?"
"No," he replied. "Just go next door to Edge’s room. He usually brings something
for pain with him. You know how accident prone he is."
"All right," she said, not really wanting to see Edge at that moment. "Be right
back." Randy nodded, rubbing his temples.
Angela made her way to Edge’s door and knocked. When he answered he was
shirtless and had a toothbrush in his mouth. "What do you want," he asked.
"Randy needs some aspirin or whatever you have," she replied. "He’s got a
hangover."
"Oh. Come on in," he said tossing the toothbrush into the bathroom sink and
going to sort through his bags for the medicine. "I’m guessing it’s a whopper,
huh?" He glanced back at her over his shoulder. She nodded, taking a seat at the
foot of his unmade bed. "I have some extra strength stuff that should do the
trick…if I can find the damn things."
"If you can’t find them I can always run to the store," she said.
"Found ‘em," he said pulling out a small bottle of pills. He handed them to her
and finally got a good look at her face. "You look like hell."
"Thanks," she said taking the pills and attempting to leave. Edge grabbed her
wrist and made her face him. "What? Going to insult me some more? Call me names?
Belittle me? Because honestly I’m not in the mood this morning."
"Your conscience is eating you up too," he said. She met his gaze momentarily
before returning her gaze to the carpet.
"It’s in the past," she said trying to pull free. "Why can’t you just let it
be?"
"Because you took something from me that day," Edge replied. "Something I’ll
never get back."
"Did you honestly expect me to keep it," she asked finally yanking her arm free.
"We could have told Randy," Edge said. "He would have understood once we
explained. We could have been a family."
"Yeah and how did that work for you and Matt? Going to any ball games with your
bestest bud these days," she asked. Pain registered in his eyes for a moment,
but he pushed it away. "I wasn’t in love with you then and I’m not now. It was
sex pure and simple. How could I bring a child into that kind of relationship?"
Edge backed her up against the wall just inside the door, glaring down at her.
"Can you honestly tell me you love Randy," he demanded. "That that’s the reason
why you stay with him? Can you tell me that?"
"Angie," they both heard Randy call from the hall.
"Let me go," she said softly, glaring up at him. "He’s waiting for me."
"You don’t love him," Edge said. "And you’re just stringing him along. Who do
you think is going to get hurt the most? You or him?"
"It’s a chance I’m willing to take," she replied, grasping the doorknob. Randy
was right there when she opened the door. "Got your pills," she said handing him
the bottle. "Edge had a hard time finding them." With that she ushered Randy
back to their room.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Hey, Jason," Batista said smiling at the younger star. "I saw your match on
Raw. How’s Victoria doing?"
"She’s all right," Rampage replied. "She’s tough."
Batista chuckled, shaking his head. "So, you ready for Backlash," he asked.
"I’ve been trying to figure out who your partner will be, but you got me
stumped."
"You’ll have to wait and see, big man," Rampage chuckled, patting him on the
back before walking away. Batista watched him walk away chuckling to himself.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy watched the exchange between Batista and Rampage. "Real hellraiser," he
muttered remembering the clues. "Career red hot." He narrowed his eyes at
Batista, who was getting some coffee at the catering table. "A real machine. Son
of a bitch," he muttered.
Randy took off running down the hall and tackled Batista to the ground. The
bigger man was taken off guard and threw up his arms to protect his face. Randy
pummeled the Batista, growling obscenities the entire time.
"RANDY," Batista growled realizing who it was finally and threw him off. "WHAT
THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM?"
"You think I don’t know," Randy sneered. "You think I don’t know about you and
Rampage." He launched himself at Batista again, slamming the bigger man
headfirst into the wall. Batista crumpled from the force of the impact. "Tell
your little friend Rampage he needs to find a new partner."
The commotion attracted a crowd. Everyone stared stunned at the carnage as
Batista lay on the ground, bleeding from the forehead while Randy stood over
him. Edge and Angela pushed their way to the front of the crowd, both not
expecting the scene before them.
"What the hell," Edge demanded as Randy stepped over Batista toward them.
"Randy…why…do you know what he’s going to do to you when he regains
consciousness," Angela demanded, hands on her hips.
"Relax," Randy said walking back to their locker room. "I figured it out."
"Figured what out," Edge demanded. "How to get killed? Because that would
certainly even up the odds against Rampage at Backlash."
"Dave was Rampage’s partner," Randy replied with a proud smirk.
Angela smacked her forehead, raking a hand through her hair. "Batista has a
match at Backlash, Randy," she said sighing. "What would make you think that
Batista was Rampage’s partner?"
Before Randy could answer they heard Batista’s music from the monitor. Angela
stared at the screen wide eyed, unable to believe the Animal was stalking down
to the ring. He climbed through the ropes and grabbed a mic, blood still
trickling down his face.
"You brought this on yourself," Edge said. "Don’t go looking at me for help.
You’re on your own."
"Randy," Batista growled into the mic. "Get your ass down here right now."
Moments later Randy’s music hit and the Legend Killer appeared on the stage,
with Angela. "What’s the matter Dave," Randy asked.
"Randy," Angela hissed. "Don’t torment the big angry man."
"You wanna fight me," Batista growled. "Then we’ll do it in the damn ring. Get
your ass down here NOW!"
Randy sauntered down the ramp to the ring, Angela trailing behind. She had never
seen Batista so mad before and she was terrified for Randy. She hoped that Edge
would have a change of heart and come down to help.
As soon as Randy stepped through the ropes Batista’s onslaught began. He
punished Randy from one end of the ring to the next. With every clothesline and
back body drop Angela could only stand there and cringe. Randy tried to fight
back, shooting Batista into the ropes where she tripped him up, but the big man
was much too focused to be distracted as he continued his assault on a now
bloodied Randy.
All hope of Edge coming to help was quickly dwindling when Angela decided to
take matters into her own hands. She slid into the ring and attempted to deliver
a devastating low blow to the big man from behind. Before she could connect with
her target he caught her wrist. She stumbled back into the corner as he turned
his attention away from Randy to glare at her.
Leaving Randy’s prone body Batista grabbed Angela by her hair and pulled her to
her feet. She struggled to break free, but he was much too strong for her. He
delivered a Batista Bomb to her before pinning Randy and exiting the ring.
Edge came running down to the ring moments later, going first to check on Angela
and then Randy. "Did I win," Randy slurred.
"No, buddy, you lost…bad," Edge replied. "Can you walk?" Randy nodded as he sat
up. It was then that he saw Angela.
"Ang," he panicked, crawling over to her. Her eyes were closed, but she muttered
something that neither man could hear.
"I got her," Edge replied scooping her up. "Come on." He helped Randy out of the
ring as best he could as he carried Angela to the back.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Go get your head checked out," Edge said once they were through the curtains.
"What about Ang," Randy asked.
"Don’t worry about her," Edge replied taking her to the locker room. "She just
took a bad bump. She’ll be all right. You might need stitches."
Edge brought her to the locker room and laid her down on the couch. He brushed
some hair from her face and sighed. "I should have come down with you guys," he
muttered. "Why the hell did you get in that ring?"
"Had to…help…Randy," she groaned, her eyes fluttered open and she tried to sit
up.
Edge shook his head, gently pushing her back down. He caressed her cheek, his
hand cupping her face. Unable to stop himself he lowered his face to hers,
kissing her lips softly. She groaned, her hands tangling in his hair as she
deepened the kiss.
They heard the sound of the door slamming and pulled apart. "Randy," Angela
gasped. "Oh no." Ignoring the pain she got to her feet and ran out of the locker
room.
Chapter 8
Angela searched the arena for Randy and finally found him pacing in the parking
lot. As she approached he stopped pacing, glaring in her direction. He was
pissed and she couldn’t blame him really.
"Randy…"
"Don’t," he said cutting her off. He began pacing again. "I should have known.
All those times you guys were just a little too close to have been ‘talking’. I
should have seen what was right under my nose." He kicked a pebble across the
asphalt. "I pushed all the suspicions aside because I thought you and I were
going somewhere."
"Randy," she said, tears stinging her eyes. Edge was right. She was going to
wind up hurting Randy and she hated herself for it.
"You two thought that poor gullible Randy would just go on believing that you
were mine," Randy sneered. He stopped pacing and glared at her. "Do you even
care about me? Do you even love me at all?" She looked away allowing the tears
to slip down her cheeks. He grasped her shoulders forcing her to look at him.
"Do you?"
She tried to pull away from him, but he tightened his grip on her. She struggled
against him the tears streaking down her cheeks. Realizing it was futile to
fight him she stopped struggling. "No, Randy," she finally said, not meeting his
gaze. "I don’t love you."
He released her, glaring at her in disgust. "Are you in love with him," he
finally asked, the word him spoken as if it was poison in his mouth.
"No," she replied.
"Of course not," Randy said. "How could you possibly love anyone, but yourself?
You were an ice bitch when I met you. I should have known better than to think
you would change for me." With that he stalked off.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"I can’t wait to get you back to the hotel," Rampage said nuzzling Victoria’s
neck as they walked out into the parking lot.
"Jason," she giggled, shoving him away playfully.
It was then that she noticed Angela leaning against a car. Something was
different about her. Seeing Victoria staring in her direction Angela wiped her
eyes and turned away.
"What’s the matter," Rampage asked, noting that something caught Victoria’s
attention. He followed her gaze and saw Angela. "You’ll have a chance to kick
her ass in the ring at Backlash. Let her be for now."
"Something’s wrong," Victoria said. "Why don’t you head to the hotel? I want to
see what’s going on?"
"Vic," he said with a sigh. "This could be a trap."
"I don’t think so," she replied, smiling because he was so concerned for her
safety. "Call it women’s intuition. I’m going to talk to her. You go on ahead."
Rampage nodded, but made it known he didn’t trust Angela at all.
Victoria watched him head to his car before making her way over to where Angela
was. Angela saw her coming and sighed, not in the mood to deal with her at the
moment. "Please just leave me alone," she said, sounding much weaker than she
had wanted to.
"Hey, I’m here to see if you’re all right," Victoria said holding up her hands.
"That’s all."
"Why do you care," Angela demanded.
"You’ve been a thorn in my side lately, but that doesn’t mean I can just walk
away when you’re obviously upset," Victoria replied. "What’s going on?"
"Look, thanks for being concerned," Angela said wiping away the tears. "I’m fine
really."
"Don’t bullshit me, girly," Victoria said placing a hand on Angela’s shoulder as
she tried to pass her. "You’re clearly upset about something."
Angela sighed, her bottom lip quivering. "Can we go someplace to talk," she
asked. Victoria nodded.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy entered the locker room. Edge looked up from where he was packing his bag.
"Randy, look I can explain…" He never got a chance to finish as Randy’s fist
connected with his jaw.
"How long has this been going on," Randy demanded.
Edge held his sore jaw. "It’s over between Angela and I," he replied. Randy
pulled his fist back, intent on punching him again. "I swear! It’s been over for
a couple of months now."
"You honestly expect me to buy that," Randy said.
"It started when you and I first started tagging up," Edge said. "We never
wanted to hurt you, Randy. That wasn’t our intention. It just happened one
night."
"When," Randy demanded.
"The night Lita retired," Edge replied sinking into a chair. "She came to my
room to see how I was doing and…one thing let to another. Before we knew it we
would make any excuse to see each other in secret." He sighed raking a hand
through his blonde locks.
Randy sunk into a chair opposite him. "Why did it end?"
Edge knew what he had to say next would hurt Randy and he really didn’t want to
tell him. "She found out that she was pregnant," he replied. "You guys always
used protection so she knew it was mine."
Randy groaned, burying his face in his hands. "What happened to the baby," he
asked not really wanting to hear the answer.
"After she told me…she had an abortion," Edge replied. "Despite me begging her
not to."
Randy looked at Edge, seeing how it pained him to talk about this. "You wanted
her to keep the baby," he said more as a statement than a question. Edge nodded.
"Do you love her?"
"I don’t know," Edge sighed. "I thought I did, but when she…she did it behind my
back. She tried to tell me it was a mistake…that the pregnancy test was wrong,
but I overheard her talking to the doctor one day."
"And that’s why you’ve been so cruel to her," Randy said, realizing what had
been going on finally.
Edge nodded. "Not the most mature thing in the world, I know," he said. "I was
hurt." The silence that stretched between them was agonizing. Finally Edge said,
"So…are we cool?" Randy glared at him. "Obviously, I know it wasn’t cool what I
did…what we did. Are we at least going to be able to work as a team?"
"I’ll be honest with you," Randy replied. "I’m mad..no…pissed and hurt by what
you guys did. I don’t know if we’ll ever be ‘cool’, but I think for the sake of
the team we can work together."
"Fair enough," Edge replied. "I really am sorry that this happened, Randy."
Randy nodded, standing. "Me too," he replied, leaving the locker room.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Victoria and Angela slid into a booth at a diner a few blocks from the arena.
"So, spill," Victoria said once they had placed their orders. "What’s going on?"
Angela sighed, resting her head on her hands on the table. "Let’s just say I’ve
gone and fucked up my life more than I ever thought was possible," she finally
said.
"Meaning," Victoria asked as the waitress set down their coffees and pie.
"A while ago Edge and I started screwing around behind Randy’s back," Angela
said. Victoria mouthed the word oh. "It just got out of hand and…I got
pregnant." Victoria took a sip of her coffee, her eyes wide. "He wanted me to
keep it, but…I wasn’t ready for that and he just didn’t understand."
"So, you…you know," Victoria asked. Angela nodded. "And Randy never knew?"
Angela shook her head no, burying her face in her hands.
"When Edge found out he gave me an ultimatum," she said, her voice muffled by
her hands. She sniffled, dabbing at her eyes with a napkin. "I chose Randy."
"But why," Victoria asked.
"I don’t know," she sobbed. "Maybe I was afraid to be alone. Maybe it was just
something familiar…comfortable. He walked in on Edge and I kissing tonight and
demanded to know if I loved him."
Victoria reached out and touched Angela’s hand. "And you told him the truth,"
she asked. Angela nodded, burying her face in her hands again. "Wow. I wish I
had some advice for you, honey."
"I should have been honest with Randy from the start," Angela said as the
waitress left the bill for them. "He’s right. I am an ice bitch."
"Well, you have your bitchy tendencies, but an ice bitch…I think that’s a bit
too much," Victoria said leaving some money on the table and sliding out of the
booth. "You made some mistakes. That doesn’t make you a bitch. It just means you
have poor judgement." Angela slid out of the booth and followed her out of the
diner.

When Angela and Victoria stepped off the elevator at the hotel they could see
Angela’s things piled in the hall outside the room she had been sharing with
Randy. With a sad sigh she went to gather her things. "Thanks for talking to me
tonight, Victoria," she said softly. "I should go see if I can get a room."
"The hotel’s fully booked," Victoria said.
"Of course it is," Angela replied. "Just my luck."
Victoria dug in the back pocket of her jeans, producing a keycard. "Take my
room. It’s three forty seven.," she said. "I’ll be staying with Jason anyway."
"Thanks," Angela said slinging her bag over her shoulder and grabbing her
suitcase. She headed down the hall toward Victoria’s room, never noticing the
pair of eyes watching her from the window in the stairwell door.
Chapter 9
Waking up in the cold, empty bed the next morning Angela sighed sitting up. She
couldn’t shake the feeling that she had been watched as she parted ways with
Victoria the night before. It was an eerie feeling, but nothing had come of it
and the feeling had subsided when she got inside the room.
With a groan she tossed the covers aside, swinging her legs over the edge of the
bed. She looked at her phone on the nightstand, picking it up and looking to see
if there were any missed calls or voice mails. Seeing none she tossed it back
onto the nightstand and went to shower and change.
An hour later she made her way down to the hotel’s restaurant to have some
breakfast. As she rounded the corner heading into the small restaurant she got
the same eerie feeling like she was being watched. Stopping in the doorway to
the eatery she turned to look in the direction the feeling was coming from, but
no one was there.
"You’re losing it, girl," she muttered to herself with a shake of her head.
Turning around to head in she slammed right in Randy. "Randy…I…I’m sorry," she
sputtered. He glared at her a moment before shoving past her, heading toward the
elevator bank.
With a sigh she turned around to head in, once again slamming into someone. This
time she was knocked to the floor. "Angie," Edge exclaimed, helping her up. She
slapped his hands away, glaring at him.
"Don’t touch me," she growled. "This whole thing is all your fault."
"My fault," he exclaimed, grabbing her arm roughly and pulling her aside. "How
the hell is this MY fault?"
"You were the one who initiated that kiss," she replied, crossing her arms
across her chest. "And as I recall you were the one who initiated the whole
affair."
"Oh, I’m sorry," Edge replied, his blue gray eyes blazing. "Was I the one
spreading my legs for the entire locker room?" Angela slapped him hard across
the face.
She tried to storm off, but Edge grabbed her, pinning her up against the wall.
"I may have been the one who initiated things, but I sure as hell didn’t hear
any protests coming from you." He smirked down at her. "As a matter of fact I
believe all I heard from you was my name over and over." She slapped him again,
this time hard enough to stagger him.
She managed to storm off this time, pressing the call button when she got to the
elevator bank. Once again she had the feeling of being watched as she waited.
Glancing around she saw no one except Edge, who was heading her way. Deciding
against waiting for the elevator she rushed into the stairwell and took the
steps two at a time to her floor.
Once safely inside her room she pulled up the sleeve of her shirt and examined
the reddened skin that she knew would soon turn to a bruise in the shape of
Edge’s fingers. Deciding against staying at the hotel any longer she packed up
and headed down to check out. She ran into Victoria and Rampage as she was
waiting for a taxi to take her to the airport.
"Hey," Victoria said all smiles. "I saw you and Edge talking earlier. Looked
pretty heated. Are you all right?"
Angela faked a smile and nodded. Her taxi pulled up then. "Gotta go or I’ll miss
my flight. See you guys at Raw," she said throwing her bags into the back seat
and getting in.
Victoria and Rampage watched the taxi pull away. "I still don’t trust her,"
Rampage said.
"Jason, she’s just had the rug pulled out from under her. Cut the poor girl some
slack," Victoria said rolling her eyes at him. "She’s not trying to trick me or
you. She’s going through some serious shit."
"Until she proves to me otherwise I don’t trust her," Rampage replied.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Angela sighed looking around the apartment to make sure she had packed all of
her things. She hadn’t moved in with Randy when he asked her to months ago and
for that she was thankful. She had no idea what she would have done if she
didn’t have her own place to fall back on. With a sigh she took the keys off her
key ring and set them on the kitchen table before leaving.
~*~*~*~*~*~
The next week at Raw Angela showed up alone. She hadn’t spoken to anyone since
leaving. Edge had left her several voicemails, but she had deleted them all.
Victoria had even left a voicemail, concerned about how she was doing, but
Angela had been in no mood to speak to anyone.
She walked the hall toward the women’s locker room. She was in a mixed tag match
that night. It was the week before Backlash and she would need to work with
Randy and Edge as a cohesive team. It sickened her to think that she and Randy
would have to fake affection for each other now.
"Ang," she heard and looked up to see Randy standing before her. "I got home and
all your stuff was gone."
"I figured I should collect my things before you left them out at the curb," she
replied coolly. He nodded unsure what to say. "Was there anything else you
wanted, Randy? Because if not this ice b*tch has to go get ready for our match."
"I’m sorry I called you that," he said reaching out to touch her. She pulled
away from him. "Look, I was angry and I shot my mouth off. I just…think that
maybe we can work through this."
"Randy," she sighed. "There’s no working through this. I told you I’m not in
love with you."
"I know, but you stayed with me for all this time. Edge gave you an ultimatum
and you chose me," he said. "There had to have been a reason. I think that if we
sat down and talked we could work things out and try again. What do you say?"
She looked up into his intense blue eyes and sighed. "All right," she replied.
"We can talk."
"Great," he said smiling. "Meet me at my hotel room later tonight and we can go
have coffee and talk." He handed her a key card before heading off down the
hall. Angela looked at the key card; the numbers four fifty one emblazoned on it
in gold print and slipped it into her back pocket.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Rampage," Edge called from the ring later that night. "We’re sick of this
bullshit with you bringing bogus partners to the ring." Rampage appeared on the
stage with Paul London and Victoria in tow. "Yeah, we’re wise to you, Rampage.
London’s not your partner for Backlash. "We want to know who it is and we want
to know right NOW."
Rampage smirked, whispering something to London, who chuckled. "You want to know
who my Backlash partner is," he asked.
"YES," Randy replied grabbing the mic from Edge.
"Well, boys, let’s just say that the fire still burns," Rampage said moments
before the stage erupted in flames and Kane’s music hit. Kane stalked out onto
the stage, taking his place by Rampage. London headed to the back, laughing at
Edge and Randy, who were in for a world of hurt.
Edge and Randy stood slack jawed. They hadn’t counted on Rampage enlisting help
from Kane. Angela too was shocked. She hadn’t even thought about the clues in
terms of Kane. Rampage and Kane headed down to the ring, surveying their
opponents.
The match was quickly underway. Kane opted to start off the match brutalizing
each man before tagging in Rampage to continue the beating. It wasn’t long
before Victoria tagged in while Rampage was dealing with Edge. He taunted her,
asking if she wanted him to tag in Angela.
Seeing that Edge wasn’t going tag her in Angela made the blind tag and told him
to get out of the ring. She then turned her attention toward Victoria, trash
talking and trying everything in her power to stay in character. The women
battled all round the ring until Kane tagged himself in when Victoria shoved
Angela off of her in their corner.
When Angela got her bearings back she saw that she was in the ring with Kane.
She scurried back to her corner and tagged Edge in, who refused to get in the
ring. She tried to tag in Randy, but Edge pulled him off the apron, dragging him
away from the ring.
Turning around with a look of complete dread on her face she saw Kane stalking
her. She fell to her knees begging him not to hurt her. As the referee
administered a ten count on Edge and Randy, Kane began to chuckle maniacally
before grabbing Angela and throwing her over his shoulders as he exited the
ring. She screamed and fought against him, but he held her tight as he carried
her to the back still laughing.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Would you put me down," Angela yelled as Kane continued to carry her around. He
brought her into the locker room he was sharing with Rampage for the night and
dropped her into a folding chair.
"Big man," Rampage said smiling as he entered the locker room behind them.
"Great effect kidnapping the tramp, but we don’t need her." Kane glared at him,
shoving Angela back into the chair as she tried to leave. "Seriously, we don’t
need her around."
"Maybe I want her around," Kane replied.
"Could you stop talking about me like I’m not here," Angela demanded as Kane
shoved her back down into the chair. "Would one of you call off Mr. Crispy over
here?" Kane glared at her, growling under his breath at the comment.
"Kane, let her go," Victoria said. "You can’t keep her against her will."
Angela stood and took a step forward to see if Kane would shove her back down.
When he made no attempt to stop her she mouthed a thank you to Victoria and
headed out of the locker room. She wanted to put as much distance between
herself and Kane as humanly possible.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Later that night Angela headed up to room four fifty one. She pulled out the key
card and slipped it into the lock. Seeing the green light flashing she turned
the handle and opened the door. What she saw inside the room made her freeze in
her tracks.
Randy was lying on the bed completely naked and Kelly Kelly was on top of him.
Both were deep in the throes of passion. Angela dropped the key card and backed
out of the room, fat tears slipping down her cheeks.
Once out in the hall she felt strong arms grab her. She let out a yelp before
someone placed a hand over her mouth. "Relax," she heard Kane’s voice in her
ear. "I won’t hurt you…much." With that he began to chuckle as she struggled
against him as he carried her off.
Meanwhile back in Randy’s room, Kelly lay next to him, her head on his chest.
"Angela is an idiot," she said breathlessly. "You’re a fantastic fuck."
Randy sat up, shoving her off of him. He thought he would feel satisfied with
hurting Angela, but all he felt was dirty. He grabbed his boxers and slipped
them on, turning to glare at Kelly. "Get dressed and get the hell out," he said,
tossing her clothes at her.
"You men are all alike," she grumbled as she pulled on her clothes. "All you
want is a cheap fuck and then you want nothing to do with me. It’s your loss!"
"I doubt that," Randy replied picking up the key card Angela had dropped and
heading into the bathroom to run a hot shower. "I want you gone by the time I'm
done with my shower," he said slamming the bathroom door.
Chapter 10
Kane carried Angela to his room, tossing her onto the bed and kicking the door
shut behind him. She scrambled to her feet heading for the door, but Kane put
his body in the way. She tried with all her might to move the mountain of a man,
but he would not budge. Finally tiring of the struggle she sunk down on the foot
of the bed.
"Why are you doing this," she asked, her voice meek.
"You looked like you could use a shoulder to cry on," Kane replied, crossing his
arms across his massive chest.
She glared up at him, her jade green eyes darkening. "Why the hell would I want
to cry on your shoulder," she demanded.
Just then her cell began to ring. Her eyes grew wide as she reached into her
pocket for it. With the events that had happened recently she had forgotten she
had it with her. She quickly hit the send button intent on letting whoever
called know she had been kidnapped. Before she could speak Kane ripped the phone
out of her hand, ending the call and pocketing it.
"What do you want from me," she groaned.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Edge looked at his cell phone thoroughly confused. He had tried to call Angela
once again. He knew she had been avoiding him, but he could have sworn he heard
the call connect and then the line went dead. With a sigh he tossed the phone
aside figuring she was playing some sort of game. He picked up the television
remote and began flipping through channels. She wasn’t going to get to him. Not
this time.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"I don’t want anything from you," Kane replied leaning back against the door.
"Then why are you holding me here against my will," Angela demanded. "Why won’t
you let me leave?"
"What Orton did to you was real low," Kane replied. Angela could see something
that almost looked like concern in his eyes. "You don’t deserve to be treated
like that."
Angela buried her face in her hands; her shoulders shuddering as silent sobs
racked her body. "I do," she said, sniffling. "I hurt him." She drew in a ragged
breath, meeting his gaze. "Haven’t you heard? I’m a whore."
"Is that what Orton and Edge would have you believe," Kane asked softly. "Did
they get tired of passing you around?" Angela buried her face in her hands
again.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy emerged from the bathroom clad only in a towel. He glanced around the room
making sure that Kelly Kelly was gone. With a sigh of relief he pulled out a
pair of sweats and pulled them on, sitting down on the bed. He picked up his
cell and dialed Angela’s number.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Before Kane could say more Angela’s phone began to ring again. He pulled the
phone out of his pocket and smirked when he saw the number on caller ID. He put
the call on speaker.
"Angie," Randy said when the call connected. "Angie, please talk to me."
"Angela can’t come to phone right now," Kane said with a wicked chuckle. "She’s
occupied with a real man." With that he ended the call and tossed it aside.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy stared at the phone, unable to believe what he had just heard. He didn’t
blame Angela for finding the first man she could, but Kane? Something wasn’t
right. Grabbing a shirt he exited his room and headed toward Edge’s room.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"What the hell was that," Angela demanded.
"You deserve better than him," Kane replied.
"And I suppose you’re an expert on human relations," Angela replied, crossing
her arms across her chest. "So, are you going to force me to have sex with you,
have your demon spawn and then marry you?"
Kane growled, yanking her up off the bed by her hair. "Listen to me, little
girl," he said, his face just inches from hers. "You’re stuck with me for the
night. You’re not leaving this room." She tried to struggle away from him, but
he held her tightly.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"What do you want," Edge demanded when he opened his door.
"Have you spoken to Angela lately," Randy asked, shoving his way inside the
room.
"In case you haven’t noticed I’m not exactly her favorite person in the world,"
Edge replied. "So, if that’s all you wanted…"
"I tried to call her tonight," Randy replied, ignoring Edge’s tone. "Kane
answered."
"Kane," Edge replied. "Wow, didn’t think she’s go running to Kane."
"I don’t think she ran to him," Randy sighed, raking a hand through his hair. "I
think he abducted her."
"Whatever," Edge replied rolling his eyes. "I fail to see how this effects me."
"Don’t even try it," Randy replied. "I know you care about her. She could be in
trouble." He got up and began to pace. "I…did something tonight…I know it hurt
her."
Edge sighed loudly. "What did you do? Fuck Kelly Kelly?" Randy looked away
ashamed. "You moron!"
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Are we clear on things," Kane demanded, his vice grip still holding her.
"Yes," she replied, afraid of what he would do if she defied him. He released
her, dropping her back onto the bed.
"Now, get nice and cozy," Kane said pulling a chair over toward the door. He sat
down, propping his legs up on the foot of the bed. "Nighty night, princess."
Angela sighed, kicking her shoes off and crawling under the covers. She rested
her head on the pillow, rolling onto her side so that Kane couldn’t see her
silent tears. Somehow she had gone from bad to worse and she didn’t know if
anyone would come and save her.
Chapter 11
"How could you even THINK of fucking Kelly Kelly," Edge fumed, pacing a hole in
the floor. "And then you invited Angie to come see it? What the hell were you
thinking?"
"I was angry," Randy replied.
Edge stopped pacing and glared at him. "That’s not an excuse! God! You’re a
fucking idiot!"
"I think we’ve established that," Randy said with a sigh. "Edge, Kane could be
hurting her."
"Gee, you think, Einstein," Edge replied.
"Your sarcasm is not helping," Randy replied. "We have to go get her."
"Fine," Edge said heading to the door. Randy was hot on his heels.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Kane sat watching Angela in bed. Her breathing had evened and she seemed to be
in a deep sleep. With a satisfied sigh he relaxed a bit, realizing that nature
was calling. He glanced at Angela to make sure she was still sound asleep.
Satisfied that she wasn’t going anywhere he headed into the bathroom, closing
the door softly.
Angela held her breath, listening to the sounds of Kane in the bathroom.
Carefully she grabbed her shoes, found her cell and headed out of the room. She
was determined to get as far away from Kane as humanly possible.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"I can’t believe I am helping you," Edge fumed as he trudged along the halls.
Neither man knew where Kane was staying that night. "I should just let you clean
up your own mess."
"So you keep telling me," Randy replied as he trailed behind his tag partner.
"Do you think we should split up? We could cover more ground that way."
"Perfect idea," Edge replied. "You go that way and I’ll head back to my room."
"You know what…." Randy didn’t get a chance to finish his statement as Angela
collided with Edge, knocking him to the ground. She landed on top of him with a
yelp.
"Angie," Randy cried attempting to help her stand. "Are you all right?"
"He’ll find me," she cried swatting Randy’s hands away. "I don’t know what he
wants with me, but I want nothing to do with that creepy bastard." She got to
her feet, helping Edge up.
"Let’s get you back to my room," Randy said. "You’ll be safe there."
"Your room," Angela scoffed, glaring at him. "Why? Tired of Kelly Kelly?" She
turned her attention to Edge. "Can I go to your room?" Edge looked at her like
she had grown an extra head. "I don’t want to be alone. In case Kane tries to
find me."
"Yeah," Edge replied. "I’ll keep you safe." He looked pointedly at Randy, who
glared at him. "Come on, Ang." As they walked away she pulled Edge’s arm around
her shoulders, snuggling up to his side.
~*~*~*~*~*~
With a satisfied sigh Kane exited the bathroom, glancing at the bed. "Damn it,"
he growled seeing it was empty. "Next time I should chain her ass to the damn
bed." He kicked the chair he had been sitting in and sat down on the bed. Most
likely she had run to Edge since Randy had hurt her. He would just have to pay
Edge a little visit.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Once inside Edge’s room, he pulled away from her. "Randy’s not here now," he
said coldly. He grabbed a pillow off the bed and a spare blanket, tossing them
at her. "Curl up on the couch," he said.
"A gentleman would offer a lady the bed," she replied with a smirk.
"I’m not a gentleman and we both know you’re no lady," he replied.
"Please let me sleep in the bed," she said pouting. "I just really don’t want to
be alone."
Edge sighed in exasperation, knowing he couldn’t tell her no when she started
pouting. She knew his Achilles heel and played it for all it was worth many a
time. "Fine," he replied. "You stay on your side and we’ll be fine."
"Thank you," she said crawling into the bed and pulling the covers over herself.
Edge lay down on his side of the bed. He got settled in, turning off the lamp on
the nightstand. Closing his eyes he prayed that sleep would take him quickly.
Unfortunately his prayers were not answered and he lay there in the dark staring
up at the ceiling.
As he lay there willing his body to sleep he could feel Angela creeping closer
to him. With an annoyed sigh he wrapped an arm around her, allowing her to
cuddled up with her head on his chest. He soon felt her hand trailing down his
body.
"Ang," he said grabbing her hand before it could creep any lower. "Cut it out
and go to sleep."
"You could have your wish tonight," she whispered in his ear. "You always wanted
me to choose you over Randy." She pried her hand free and continued to let it
creep lower.
Edge grabbed her hand, holding it tightly. "We both know you’re only doing this
because of what Randy did," he said and tossed her hand aside. "I don’t want you
like this."
"I can’t believe this," Angela fumed sitting up. "You’ve wanted me all to
yourself for how long? Now that I’m offering myself to you on a silver platter
you don’t want me. What gives?"
"Guess I grew a conscience," Edge replied sitting up. "Take the bed. I’ll sleep
on the couch." With that he took his pillow and blanket and set himself up on
the couch.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy was fuming as he walked the halls back to his room. Once again Edge had
stolen his girl. As he rounded the corner he spotted Kane. With a wicked smile
he approached him.
"Big man," he called. "Looking for Angela?" Kane quirked a brow at him. "She’s
in Edge’s room. Do what you want with that info." He patted Kane on the shoulder
telling him the room number before he walked away.
~*~*~*~*~*~
The sound of someone pounding on the door startled both Edge and Angela. Edge
groaned and sat up shaking his head. He had been so close to drifting off to
sleep.
"If that’s Randy I’m gonna kick him in the nuts," he muttered walking to the
door.
"Don’t answer it," Angela said, clearly terrified. She had a sick feeling she
knew who it was.
"Relax," Edge said as the pounding got harder and louder. He opened the door and
was struck in the mouth by a large fist. He collapsed to the floor in a heap.
The door swung open revealing Kane.
"Honey, I’m home," he said laughing maniacally at Angela, who began to scream.
He grabbed her by the hair and attempted to drag her out of the room, but she
fought him.
She had just cocked her foot back to kick him where it would hurt the most when
he caught her leg with his free hand. His grip on her loosened and his face
contorted in pain suddenly as he glared down at her. Looking down he could see
that Edge had regained consciousness and punched him in the crotch.
"Back off, asshole," Edge said getting to his feet and pulling Angela away from
him as Kane doubled over. "You want her you’ll have to go through me." Angela
cowered in the corner of the room.
"You just made a huge mistake," Kane said glaring at Edge. A sick smile curled
his lips as he lumbered toward Edge. Without blinking he grabbed the blonde by
the throat and threw him into the wall with all of his might. Edge crumpled to
the floor in a heap.
"NO," Angela screeched, going to his side. "Wake up. Please wake up." She patted
his cheek, but he didn’t stir.
"Now, you’re coming with me," Kane said grabbing Angela by the arm and pulling
her into his arms. She struggled against him and he clamped a hand over her
mouth. "We can do this the hard way or the easy way. I kinda like the hard way,
but the choice is yours." Angela stopped struggling and Kane smiled. "Good
girl." He carried her out of the room back to his own room.
Once inside the room Kane set her down on the bed. She glared up at him. "In the
bed," he said. She obeyed remembering his threat about doing things the hard
way. He pulled something out of his bag and she didn’t see what it was until he
had slapped it onto her wrist.
"What are you doing," she demanded looking down at the handcuffs as he fastened
the other side around his own wrist.
"You’re not getting away again," he replied. He got into bed next to her and
shut off the bedside lamp. "Goodnight, Angela." She lay back on the pillow with
a huff. The night just couldn't get any worse. With a soft sigh she closed her
eyes and willed sleep to come quickly.
Chapter 12
When Edge regained consciousness the room was empty. Groaning he sat up, holding
his aching head. He looked about at the ransacked room and wondered what Kane
wanted with Angela. Getting to his feet he staggered to the door and headed to
Randy’s room.
"What the hell," Randy demanded opening the door. Edge had been pounding on it
frantically for a few minutes. Randy looked like he had been in a deep slumber
moments before Edge had so rudely awakened him.
"Kane has Angela again," Edge said, wincing in pain as his head continued to
throb.
"Yeah, I know," Randy replied, stifling a yawn.
Edge glared at him. "What did you do," he demanded.
"What needed to be done," Randy replied in a matter of fact manner.
Edge grasped him by the shirt collar and slammed him up against the wall. "What
did you do, Randy," he demanded through clenched teeth.
Randy smirked. "Guess you care more about Angela than you thought," he chuckled.
Edge slammed him into the wall again. "I told Kane where Angela would be," he
said shoving Edge off of him. "Did you honestly think that you could walk off
with my girl and get away with it?"
"Your girl? Seems like she stopped being your girl the moment she caught you
with Kelly Kelly," Edge replied. "If he hurts her in any way…" His frustration
got the better of him and he couldn’t find the words to complete his thought.
With a growl he stalked off.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Angela lay in the bed next to Kane. She had managed to fall asleep though at the
crack of dawn the sound of Kane snoring had startled her out of a deep slumber.
With a sigh she lay in bed wondering what would happen once the big man woke up.
Her train of thought was broken when she felt herself being dragged toward her
massive captor. It was then that she realized that Kane had rolled onto his side
and she was now pressed up against his back. She tried in vain to pull herself
back to the other side of the bed, but quickly realized that it was impossible.
He outweighed her by a couple of hundred pounds.
"Kane," she said softly, nudging his shoulder. He grunted in his sleep, but
didn’t wake. "Kane," she said louder, shaking his shoulder now.
"What," Kane growled finally awake.
"I can’t sleep like this," she said softly. "If you uncuff me I promise I won’t
run."
Kane smirked, sitting up. "I think we both know that’s a lie, Angela," he
replied. He reached into the collar of his shirt and produced a chain with a key
on it and removed the cuff from his own wrist, massaging it to get the blood
flowing back into the hand. "I think this will work better for you, highness,"
he said cuffing her to a wooden spindle in the headboard. "Good night." With
that he rolled onto his side and closed his eyes.
"Couldn’t you just tell me what you want with me," she asked, tears slipping
down her cheeks. "I’ll do whatever you want me to do."
"I want you to get some more sleep," Kane replied, not opening his eyes. "You’ll
need your energy. We have a busy weekend ahead of us."
"What are you going to do with me," Angela demanded.
"Go to sleep," he ordered.
"Randy and Edge will find me," she said, not really believing her own words.
Kane sat up and fixed her with a glare. "Is that the same Randy that was fucking
someone else when you walked into his hotel room?" Angela looked away; knowing
the point that Kane was trying to make. "The same Randy that told me what room
Edge was in?" She looked at him in shock. "That’s right," Kane said smirking.
"Randy cared so much that he gave away your location."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Edge raked a hand through his hair. He couldn’t believe he was going to Jason
Rampage for help, but there he stood staring at the door to his hotel room. He
knocked on the door and waited.
Victoria answered, clad in one of Rampages shirts. "What do you want," she
demanded.
"Can I speak to Jason," Edge asked wearily. His head ached and he was worried
about Angela.
"What’s going on, Vic," Rampage asked coming to the door. His eyes narrowed when
he saw Edge standing there. "What do you want?"
"I need your help," Edge said. "I wouldn’t have bothered you, but I know you and
Kane are friendly." Rampaged listened, leaning against the doorframe with his
arms crossed across his chest. "He’s got Angela."
"He’s gone after her again," Victoria asked, concerned for her new friend.
"He took her, by force," Edge replied. "I have the goose egg on the back of my
head to prove it."
"So, Kane’s getting him some," Rampage stated with a shrug. "Good for him."
Victoria slapped him across the shoulder.
"Not funny," Victoria said narrowing her eyes at him. "We have to help her."
"Vic…" His words trailed off when she stepped back into the room to get dressed.
"You had to come to me for help, right," he asked Edge.
"Like I had a choice," Edge replied. "Randy’s…Randy’s an asshole."
"I could have told you that," Rampaged muttered. Edge explained to him how Randy
had all but sent Kane to get Angela. "Wow, didn’t think he was that much of a
creep."
"Come on," Victoria said to the men, emerging from the room wearing the shirt
tied in a knot and a pair of jeans. She led the way to Kane’s room down the
hall.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Angela had just curled up as to get back to sleep when the sound of knocking on
the door startled her. She looked to Kane, who growled as he swung his legs over
the side. He stood and headed to the door.
"Think one of your boyfriends came to rescue you, princess," he asked with a
chuckle. Angela ignored him, curling up on her side. Kane opened the door,
scowling down at Rampage, Victoria and Edge. "What do you want?"
"We know you have her," Edge replied.
Rampage glared at him motioning for him to be quiet. "Kane, look I’ve told you a
million times. If you want a piece of ass there are women you can pay to scratch
that itch."
Victoria slapped Rampage upside the head, shoving him out of the way. "Kane, we
know you have Angela. You’re holding her against her will."
Kane stepped aside, opening the door wider to reveal Angela cuffed to the bed.
"She’s not going anywhere with him," he said pointing at Edge.
"Is she," Victoria began, but stopped moving in closer to get a better view of
Angela. "Is she handcuffed?" She glared up at Kane. "Uncuff her now!"
"Not happening, lady," Kane replied, crossing his arms across his chest.
"Big man," Rampage said. "Look we get it. You don’t like Captain Cro Mag Head
here." Edge glared at him. "But what you’re doing right now is a felony.
Kidnapping? Ring a bell?"
"Kane, please," Victoria pleaded. She noted that he was boring holes into Edge
as they stood there. "I get it. You don’t want Edge near her. He won’t be. I’ll
take her back to my room and keep an eye on her. Please, Kane. You can’t keep
her like this."
Kane sighed, running a hand over his bald head. He nodded and pulled the chain
with the key from around his neck. He handed it over to Victoria and she went to
free Angela.
"What did you do to her, you sick freak," Edge demanded.
"Oh the usual," Kane replied smirking, knowing it would get under Edge’s skin.
Rampage had to hold Edge back as he tried to lunge at Kane.
"Thank God you talked him into letting me go," Angela said as Victoria uncuffed
her.
"Look, I don’t know why Kane’s been doing this," Victoria replied. "You’re
coming to my room. I’m not letting you out of my sight as long as we’re on the
road. Understood?" Angela nodded, rubbing her sore wrist. Victoria took her hand
and led her out of the room.
"I’ll see you at check out," Kane said to Angela, who clung to Victoria. With
that Kane slammed the door to his room.
"Did he hurt you," Edge asked Angela. She shook her head no. "Come on. Let’s get
you back to the room."
"Uh uh," Victoria said shaking her head. "She’s going with me."
"B-baby," Rampage said. "Um…I’m not really into threesomes."
"You can room with Edge," Victoria said walking off with Angela.
Rampage looked at Edge. "You get the couch," Edge replied to the unasked
question.
"Fuck that," Rampage replied. "I was expecting some cuddle time with my honey
until check out, but NOOO I had to help you. I get the bed. You sleep on the
fucking couch." Edge was unable to argue with that logic. Hanging his head he
led the way back to his room.
Chapter 13
The next morning Angela rose before Victoria. She sat up in bed, contemplating
making a run for it, but ultimately deciding against it. She knew that Kane
would find her again. With a sigh she headed into the bathroom and ran a hot
shower.
Victoria was awake when Angela finally exited the bathroom, drying her hair with
a towel. She was just setting the phone down. "Who was on the phone," Angela
asked. She hadn’t heard it ring at all while she was in the shower.
"Jason," Victoria replied. "He’s meeting us in the hotel restaurant in twenty
minutes. "Edge is going to drop off your bag so that you can change into some
clean clothes."
Victoria stood. "Did you leave some hot water?" Angela nodded and took a seat on
the edge of the bed to finish drying her hair. Victoria grabbed some things from
her bag before heading into the bathroom.
There was a knock at the door just as Angela heard the water begin to run. She
stood, making sure the towel was wrapped tightly around her body and went to the
door. Edge stood there with her bag. "Thanks," she said softly, taking the bag
and attempting to close the door. Edge stopped it with his hand.
"Are you all right," he asked.
"Other than some chafing from the cuffs I’m fine," she replied.
"Angela," he said.
"Look, I don’t know why Kane’s targeting me," she replied. "He just is. I can’t
control him anymore than Victoria or Jason can. Just stay away from me and
things should be fine."
"Fine," he replied. "I just want you to know that I’m here if you ever need me."
She nodded, closing the door.
"Everything all right," Victoria asked coming out of the bathroom wrapping in a
towel.
"Yeah," Angela replied rummaging through her bag for some clean clothes to wear.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Victoria and Angela arrived at the restaurant first, taking seats in a booth
near the far wall where Rampage would be sure to see them. They ordered coffee
and browsed the menu while they waited. Angela didn’t look up from her menu
until she felt someone slide into the booth beside her. Looking up she saw Kane
smiling down at her.
"Good morning," he said.
"Honey, why don’t we go take a booth somewhere else and let the big man and
Angela talk," Rampage said taking her hand and sliding her out of the booth.
Angela attempted to slide out with them, but Kane grasped her arm. "I promise I
just want to talk," he said.
"No handcuffs," she asked. He shook his head no. "No kidnapping me and holding
me against my will?" He again shook his head no. "All right," she said pulling
her arm free and settling into the booth. "Talk."
Kane took a deep breath, prepared to lay it all out on the line for her right
then and there. "I’ve watched what’s been going on between you, Orton and Edge,"
he said.
"You’ve been stalking me," she demanded. He gave her a look and she shut up
instantly.
"They’ve treated you like a plaything," he said not meeting her gaze. "Neither
one of them could see you for what you are."
"What’s that," she asked curious as to why he had taken a sudden interest in
her.
"I’m sure you know my history with women," Kane said softly. "I’m not expecting
much here, Angela. I just think that you deserve to see how a real man treats a
lady."
Angela was both dumbfounded and touched by his words. Kane realized that his
confession had shocked her and sighed, cursing himself under his breath. "Forget
it," he said sighing when she didn’t reply. He attempted to slide out of the
booth, but he felt her hand on his.
"It’s a lot for me to process," she said softly. "Kane…I…don’t know what to say.
Had you explained this to me instead of kidnapping me and cuffing me to the
bed…I don’t know. Can we start out as friends and go from there?" He smirked and
nodded. "Good, now can we get something to eat? I’m starved." Kane chuckled
picking up the menu.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"Looks like it’s going good," Victoria said watching from the booth that she and
Rampage had taken. "Kane’s actually laughing."
"Vic, honey, stop spying on them," Rampage said cutting his pancakes up and
drowning them in syrup.
"I’m not spying," she replied sitting right in the booth and poking at her eggs.
With a smirk she scooted closer to him, placing her hand on his knee. "Jason,
sweety," she said slowly moving her hand up his thigh.
"What do you want," he asked, though he did not remove her hand. He was curious
to see how far she’d go to get what she wanted.
"I want to invite Angela to ride with us," she purred in his ear.
Rampage choked on the bite of pancake he had been chewing on and looked at her
with wide eyes. She looked up into his blue eyes, her brown ones reflecting love
and lust for her man. Taking a big sip of his coffee he finally said, "All
right, but I still don’t like her."
"Good," she said pulling away from him and sliding out of the booth. He watched
as she jogged over to Kane and Angela’s table to tell Angela the news. With a
sigh he jabbed at a piece of pancake and shoved it in his mouth.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"You know you’re not this big horrible monster that everyone makes you out to
be," Angela said smiling as Kane threw some money down on the table to cover the
bill and tip. Rampage and Victoria had left already. They would be meeting in
the parking lot.
"Thanks…I think," he replied with a smirk.
"I just mean that…I don’t know," she replied sliding out of the booth.
"I get it," he replied, placing a hand on the small of her back as they walked
toward the exit. "A lot of people think of me as a monster and I suppose I
haven’t helped matters with the way I act." His smile fell when they got close
to the door and he saw who was coming in.
Without warning he pulled Angela to him and lowered his lips to hers. At first
she fought him, not understanding his change in demeanor. The kiss had started
out as harsh, but soon turned softer. Soon her widened eyes fluttered closed and
she gave in to the kiss.
Angela relaxed in Kane’s arms and allowed him to deepen the kiss. She allowed
him to part her lips and twine his tongue with hers. She relished the warmth of
his body. His hand slid up her back, tangling in her hair and leaving a trail of
fire in its wake. She had never felt such sensations before in her life.
When the kiss was broken they were both breathless. Angela stared up at him,
still shocked by the sudden action. "Not that I didn’t enjoy that and all," she
said slowly. "But what the hell was that?"
"Orton," he replied smirking. "And from the way he stormed out of here I’d say
my plan worked."
"You have issues," she said shaking her head. "Has anyone ever told you that?"
"Once or twice," he replied chuckling. "Let’s go before Jason has a conniption
fit waiting for us."
Chapter 14
During the drive to the next city Victoria would cast glances into the back seat
and smile wide. Kane and Angela sat talking quietly. They were getting along
great and she loved every minute of it. She just knew that sooner or later
something would happen between the two.
"Honey," Victoria said after an hour on the road. "Can we stop for a potty
break." Rampage nodded, spotting a rest stop sign up the road. He pulled off the
road and parked. "Angie, come with me?"
"Sure," she said climbing out of the back seat.
Rampage watched as the ladies made their way to the bathrooms before he spoke to
Kane. "So, you and Angela, huh?"
"I know what you’re going to say," Kane replied. "She’s not all that bad once
you get to know her. She’s actually kinda sweet."
"Are we talking about the same chick here," Rampage asked.
"I wouldn’t expect you to understand," Kane replied. "She and I share something
in common."
"What’s that," Rampage asked.
"Damaged hearts," Kane replied softly, before getting out of the car to stretch
his legs.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"All right, girl, dish," Victoria said once she and Angela were alone in the
ladies room.
"About what," Angela said fixing her lip gloss in the mirror.
"You and Kane," Victoria replied. "Something happened after Jason and I left
this morning. I can just tell." Angela blushed and Victoria squealed happily. "I
knew it!"
"He kissed me," Angela said. "He saw Randy coming in and just grabbed me and
planted one on me."
"How was it," Victoria asked.
"Strange at first," Angela replied. "But then…I don’t know how to describe it.
It was like…when he touched me I felt little prickles of fire where his fingers
had been. I’ve never felt anything like it."
"Oh Angie," Victoria squealed and hugged her. "You and Kane look so cute
together."
"Whoa, now," Angela said holding up her hands. "Look, after what I went through
with Edge and Randy…I’m not looking for a relationship."
"You might not be looking for one, but I’d say one found you," Victoria replied
with a knowing smile.
~*~*~*~*~*~
They arrived at the hotel an hour after their rest stop. Angela was in the lobby
waiting in line to check in when she heard a familiar voice from behind her. She
sighed loudly, not in the mood to deal with him.
"So, where’s your new boy toy," Randy asked.
"What are you talking about, Randy," she replied, narrowing her eyes at him.
"Kane…or have you moved on to the next victim already," Randy asked with a
sneer. "Honestly, Angie, how long after he kidnapped you did you fuck him?"
"Kane never laid a hand on me," Angela replied.
"Couldn’t get it up," Randy asked.
"No, he just wasn’t interested in jumping me," Angela replied. "Unlike you, who
would apparently fuck anything with a pulse."
Randy stepped toward her, his hand flying up to slap her across the face for the
comment. Angela closed her eyes and waited for the impact. The slap made her
stumble back. Her hand flew up to her cheek instinctively and she tasted her own
blood in her mouth. Randy was about to strike her again when he felt someone
grab his wrist. He turned to glare at the person and came face to face with
Rampage.
"If that’s how you treat a lady then it’s no wonder she was stepping out with
Edge," Rampage said. Randy let out a low growl and lunged at Rampage, who
quickly ducked out of the way and pinned him up against the wall. "I guess being
friends is out of the question."
"Angela," Victoria exclaimed entering the lobby and seeing her friend holding
her face and her rapidly swelling cheek and lip.
Kane was right behind Victoria into the lobby. He took one look at where
Victoria stood fawning over Angela. He then turned his attention to where
Rampage stood still restraining Randy. "What happened," he demanded of anyone
who would answer.
"Randy slapped her," Victoria replied.
Kane growled and started heading toward where Rampage was struggling to keep
Randy pinned against the wall. "Kane don’t," Angela said, stepping between them.
"He’s not worth it."
Kane looked down at her and then turned his gaze to Randy before returning it
back to her. "You’re right," he said. "Come on, Angela. You can stay in my room.
There’s no way I’m letting you stay in a room alone with that one on the prowl."
She allowed Kane to slide his arm around her shoulders and lead her to the
elevator bank. She cast a glance over her shoulder and saw Randy watching them
walk away. He was seething and she knew that she wouldn’t be safe alone.
~*~*~*~*~*~
"I had a feeling there would be trouble with Orton," Kane said letting her into
his room. "I booked a room with two beds."
"Thanks," Angela said setting down her bag and plopping onto the foot of the bed
nearest the window. She winced at the pain that still radiated in her cheek from
the slap.
"Let me see that," he said going over to her and squatting in front of her. He
tucked a finger under her chin and tilted her head up so he could survey the
damage. "I think you’ll be fine," he said trying to keep his temper in check,
though he wanted to tear Orton apart for striking her. "I’ll go get some ice,"
he said standing and grabbing the ice bucket.
Angela watched him go before lying back on the bed. She pondered what Victoria
had told her in the ladies room at the rest stop. By the way Kane had been
treating her that day she could tell that he cared more than he let on at first.
Kane returned a few moments later with the ice bucket. He could tell that she
was deep in thought. Quietly he went into the bathroom and wet a wash cloth
before setting some ice cubes in it.
"Angela," he said softly. "Sit up, please." She did as he asked and he squatted
down in front of her. "You need to hold this ice pack to your face for a while
to take down the swelling." She nodded, holding it in place. He stood and took a
seat on the other bed.
"Thank you," she said softly. "You don’t have to be so nice to me. Lord knows I
wasn’t nice to you at all."
"It’s a defense mechanism," Kane replied. "Acting like a bitch. It’s a way to
keep people from hurting you." She didn’t know what to say. "I get it. Believe
me. I get it. Been there myself." He sighed glancing at his watch. "We have a
couple of hours before the show. Why don’t we order some room service?"
"Burger, onion rings and chocolate milkshake," she replied smiling. He nodded
and picked up the menu to decide what to get for himself. In the end he ordered
the same for himself and together they ate in comfortable silence while they
watched TV.
~*~*~*~*~*~
When Kane and Angela arrived at the arena that night Edge approached them. Kane
glared at him, but he held up his hands in defense. "I’m not here to start
trouble," he said. "I heard what Randy did." He turned his attention to Angela.
"Are you all right? When I see that son of a bitch I’ll kill him."
"I’m fine," she replied. "A little sore, but otherwise I’m fine." Her cheek had
a faint bruise on it, but there was no swelling thanks to the ice pack.
Edge breathed a sigh of relief. "Well, I’ll see you around," he said feeling
awkward.
He started to walk away, but Angela grabbed his wrist. "I think I have a way of
getting back at Randy," she said to him and Kane with an evil smirk. "Let’s find
Victoria and Jason and talk about this in private."
A half hour later they all stood around Rampage and Kane’s locker room listening
to Angela’s plan. "I love it," Edge said smiling.
"I just love the way your mind works," Kane said smirking. He slung his arm
around her shoulders and kissed her temple. This action did not go unnoticed by
the others.
"Hey, Ang," Edge said as they were leaving the locker room. "Can we talk…in
private?"
"All right," she replied and they found an empty locker room. "What’s up?"
"Look, I see that you and Kane are together now," he began, but she cut him off.
"Kane and I are friends," she corrected.
"Right," Edge replied. "Well, it seems that it could eventually become more than
that. I just want you to know that if you decide to be with him…you have my
support." She looked at him as if he had grown another head. "What we had was a
fling, but I still care about you, Ang. I’d rather have you in my life as a
friend than not have you in it at all."
"That’s really sweet of you to say," she replied.
"Kane’s a good man," he said. "You deserve to be happy and I think he could make
you happy. That’s all I wanted to say."
Angela smiled, happy to hear those words from Edge. "Thank you," she said softly
and hugged him. "I’m happy to have a friend like you."
They exited the locker room and Kane met her in the hall. "Everything all
right," he asked, eyeing Edge warily.
"Fine," she replied still smiling. "Come on, big guy, we got a show to put on."
Chapter 15
"You ready for our match," Victoria asked Angela as they got ready for their
Backlash women’s title match. Angela flashed her a tight smile. She had never
been this nervous before a match. "You’ll do great," Victoria said sensing her
nervousness.
"I think I’ll feel better once I’m officially away from Randy," Angela replied
pulling her hair up into a ponytail. "After yesterday it sickens me to think
that I’ll have to be all lovey dovey with him on camera."
"It’s only for part of tonight," Victoria said. "Now, remember, don’t go easy on
me out there."
"Vic, thanks for being such a good friend," Angela said giving her a quick hug.
"Let’s go put on a show to put the boys to shame." Victoria smiled and led the
way out of the locker room.
"Angela," they heard Randy call as the ladies made their way toward the Gorilla
position to loosen up before their match. Groaning Angela turned around to face
him. "We have some pre-tapes to do. Did you forget, honey?" He smirked and she
just wanted to claw his eyes out.
"Of course not," she replied through gritted teeth, though only Victoria seemed
to notice. "I was just looking for you."
"You hurt her and you’ll be in a world of pain," Victoria warned him.
"I wouldn’t dream of hurting her," he replied sweetly as he grabbed her hand and
all but dragged her away.
A half hour later Angela found Victoria. "You all right," Victoria asked, seeing
Angela’s eyes were clouded over with hatred.
"Remind me again that he’s getting what’s coming to him tonight," Angela
replied.
"What did he do," Victoria demanded, wanting to kill him with her bare hands.
"He was all hands," Angela sighed. "It made me sick to my stomach to have to
giggle and act like I liked it."
"He’ll be out of your life after tonight," Victoria said as Angela’s music
blared through the arena. "Showtime."
Angela nodded. "See you out there," she said before making her entrance.
Once both women were in the ring they began to run through the spots they had
discussed before the match. As Angela had said they put on a match that could
have put the boys to shame. Staying true to her heel persona Angela distracted
the ref and waffled Victoria with a chair that had been brought into the ring
earlier in the match. Going for the quick cover and calling over the ref Angela
managed to get a two count.
Frustrated Angela went for a crucifix pin, but Victoria managed to counter it,
slamming her opponent down hard. While Angela was disabled she pulled her up and
set her up for the Widow’s Peak. The match ended with Victoria getting the
pinfall. The crowd erupted, celebrating Victoria’s win.
When the women made their way through the curtains Edge was there to meet them.
"Ang, we have to do a little promo in the locker room with Randy," he said. "You
know preparing for the match." She nodded and followed him back to the locker
room.
~*~*~*~*~*~
After the promo had been filmed Randy, Edge and Angela were alone in the locker
room. Edge sat lacing up his boots and pulling on his kick pads. Angela was lost
in thought, wanting to be anywhere but there.
"So, we’re clear on the plan for the match," Randy asked. No one answered him.
"Maybe you two didn’t hear me," he said. "Are we clear on the plan?"
"We heard," Edge replied. "We’re just ignoring you. Perhaps you should be more
observant."
"What the hell is your problem," Randy demanded.
"You," Edge replied, taking Angela’s hand and leading her out of the locker
room.
"You shouldn’t have done that," she said softly, cringing when she heard a chair
fly across the room.
"Like I give a flying fuck about him or his feelings," Edge replied. "After
tonight I won’t have to call him my partner." He sighed, raking a hand through
his hair. "Let’s go find Jason and Kane."
~*~*~*~*~*~
Randy found Edge and Angela talking to Rampage, Victoria and Kane at the Gorilla
position before the match. Kane stood with an arm around Angela’s waist and she
leaned comfortably against him. Randy felt his blood boiling at this sight. Not
only had he lost her to Edge, but now to Kane as well.
He shoved his way over to his tag partner thrusting a tag title into his hands.
"You forgot that when you left the locker room," he said. Edge glared at him,
but took the title without a word.
Randy turned his attention to Angela, pulling her away from Kane. "On camera she
belongs to me, big man," he said, wrapping an arm possessively around Angela’s
shoulders. With that he dragged her away. She cast a glance back at Kane as she
struggled to keep up with Randy. He could tell by the look in her eyes that she
didn't want to go with him, but had no choice at the moment.
Kane’s hands clenched into fists and he attempted to go after the younger man.
Rampage stopped him. "I know you hate him," he said. "Chill. You’ll get your
revenge in the ring. Let him have her for now."
"Trust me, Kane," Victoria said smiling. "Her heart belongs to you. She just
doesn’t know it yet."
"Listen to the pretty lady," Edge said smiling. "She knows what she’s talking
about." With that said he followed his tag partner out to the ring.
~*~*~*~*~*~
The match started off quickly with Rampage and Edge exchanging blows until
Rampage finally got the upper hand whipping him into the corner. He tagged in
Kane who took out his aggressions on the prone Edge. The match soon shifted with
Edge fighting back. He finally managed to get away from Kane long enough to tag
Randy in.
The match was back and forth, all four men getting in some good licks on each
other. Victoria played cheerleader for Kane and Rampage while Angela did the
same for Edge and Randy. Finally came the point in the match to put Angela’s
plan into action.
Edge had the ref distracted while Angela slipped a chair into the ring. Randy
picked it up, intent on smacking Kane upside the head with it. Unfortunately
Kane saw it coming and booted the chair into Randy’s head. On the outside Angela
acted like the concerned girlfriend, though inside she was cheering. It took all
of her restraint not to smile.
Randy crawled back to his corner as Kane went to his own to tag in Rampage. Edge
tagged in, watching Randy shaking off the chair shot on the apron. He glanced at
Angela and she gave a slight nod. With a smirk he made to attack Rampage, but
instead tagged Randy back in.
"What the fuck," Randy demanded holding his aching head as he stepped through
the ropes. "What’s going on?"
Edge didn’t reply. He simply pointed behind him. Randy turned around, confused,
right into a superkick from Rampage. He stumbled back into Edge who DDTed Randy.
Rampage quickly covered him for the pinfall. Edge left the ring, a satisfied
smirk curling his lips as he walked up the ramp.
Kane and Rampage helped Victoria into the ring and accepted their titles from
the referee. Angela slid into the ring, crawling over to Randy, who was just
coming to. She helped him to his feet. Randy pushed her away.
"What the hell is this," he demanded of her. "Were you in on this shit too?"
Angela leaned into him so that he could hear her over the screaming crowd. "Who
do you think planned the whole thing," she replied. She slapped him hard across
the face. "That’s for yesterday," she yelled. "And this…is for Kelly Kelly."
With that she swung her foot back and kicked him where it really hurt.
Rampage, Victoria and Kane all watched stunned as Randy crumpled to the mat.
With a satisfied grin she walked over to Kane, pulling his face down to hers and
placing a heart stopping kiss on his lips. His title slid from his hands as he
wrapped his arms around her and pulled her body close to his, returning the kiss
greedily.
"Let’s go celebrate," Angela said when the kiss was broken. Kane smiled and
nodded, holding the ropes open for her. Victoria grabbed his abandoned title,
following them out of the ring with Rampage close behind.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Later that night Rampage and Victoria lay in bed after a night of celebrating
their victory with Kane and Angela. She lay against his chest, their fingers
laced together. They both sighed contentedly.
"Jason," she said softly.
"Hmm?" He was just starting to doze off.
"This is going to sound crazy and incredibly cheesy, but I feel like you’re the
one I’ve been waiting for all my life," she said, biting her lip.
He placed a kiss on her temple and smiled. "It’s not crazy or cheesy," he
whispered in her ear. "I feel the same way about you."
"Oh, Jason," she whimpered, happy tears filling her eyes. "You’re just the
sweetest man ever." With that she rolled so that she could look up into his
eyes. "I love you."
"Love you too," he replied, kissing her softly. She rested her head on his
chest, listening to the sound of his beating heart. It lulled her to sleep and
soon he too drifted off.

"Do you mind if I crawl into bed with you," Angela asked Kane when she emerged
from the bathroom. She had borrowed a shirt to sleep in and it fit her like a
nightgown. He smiled, patting the bed next to him. Happily she crawled under the
covers next to him.
"You don’t have to worry about me expecting anything from you," he said softly.
"You set the pace. There's no rush."
"Are you saying you don’t mind snuggling instead of shagging," Angela asked with
a smirk.
Kane chuckled. "Yes, that is what I’m saying," he replied. "It’s been a long
time since a woman has made me laugh the way you do."
"Is that a good thing," she asked.
"It’s a very good thing, Angela" he replied unable to wipe the smile off his
face. He reached out and gently pulled her to him, placing a soft kiss on her
lips.
When the kiss was broken she rested her head on his chest. "I want this to be
something special," she said softly. "You made me feel things I’ve never felt
before and I know that I don’t want those feelings to come to an end any time
too soon."
"Good," he said running his fingers through her hair. She closed her eyes,
enjoying the sensations his touch brought. "Get some rest."
He reached over and turned off the bedside lamp, settling in with Angela in his
arms. He couldn’t believe she was there with him. After all that she had been
through she had chosen him. With a content sigh he closed his eyes, drifting off
to sleep to the sound of her even breathing.
